about me
I don't drink enough water every day. Except when I am at Burningman.
I ride alone on my motorcycle. And usually in an unspecified direction for thousands of miles.
I am good at voices and characterizations. I am bad at remembering good jokes.
I can affect people deeply with my writing. But I am afraid to write my best stuff down.
I am a championship snuggler. And yet I am consistently single.
Only Happy gives better hugs than I do.
My dog has a truly wonderful life. I am proud of that.
I have a large selection of coats. But only three pairs of underwear.
On turning 40...

So at some point during the day today, I turned 40. However, since I am pedantic, and believe the millennium should not have been celebrated until 2001, I have to point out that our birthdays are actually celebrating the LAST DAY of that year. So ...

Return
(blog entry)
Coming back home from almost a month on the road (camping, Burning Man), and not having a job or any regular schedule imposed on me has left me sort of flailing. I don't seem to be able to get any traction...
I went to Circus Contraption's big ...

Alternative Fuels = more of the wrong way of thinking
(blog entry)
I had a realization the other day: ANY alternative fuel to fossil fuels is no better than the fossil fuel.
Here is why...
1. There is no natural material you can drop in the tank of your vehicle (or power plant, or lawnmower, or whatever). E...

Seamster?
(blog entry)
So the female is a "seamstress", so I am going to call myself a "Seamster"!
For the first time since I graduated from Fashion Design school (hah! didn't know I had a degree in Fashion Design now, didja?), I am using the skills I learned in scho...

Jeez... sitting here with a head cold all weekend... so I figure I'll do my taxes. I have lotsa spare time, and need a little cheering up. My taxes are easy and I always get a refund, so this seems promising.
So I go through filing and I get a ...

So at some point during the day today, I turned 40. However, since I am pedantic, and believe the millennium should not have been celebrated until 2001, I have to point out that our birthdays are actually celebrating the LAST DAY of that year. So yesterday was Day 365 of my 40th year.
I am now officially 40, and working diligently toward 41. ;-)
I feel like I should have something important and meaningful to say, so here it is: Everyone should go to Burning Man as many times as they ca...

I went to Circus Contraption's big cabaret show on Friday, and had a BRILLIANT time! Saw all kinds of people (including my ex-wife, oddly enough) and reconnected with my pre-vacation life a bit... and then drank FAR too much, and can't remember much of anything. It takes a fuckload of...

Here is why...
1. There is no natural material you can drop in the tank of your vehicle (or power plant, or lawnmower, or whatever). Every single thing out there - oil, switch grass, or any of the so-called "bio fuels" - must be refined.
2. Refining means stripping the energy-rich parts out, and leaving behind the bits with little or no potential energy. That means the result of...

For the first time since I graduated from Fashion Design school (hah! didn't know I had a degree in Fashion Design now, didja?), I am using the skills I learned in school to make clothing.
For the past week I have been working every night under the Circus Contraption big top, making costumes. I brought in my sewing machine, all my tools, and I have been making garments. An Evel Kenievel suit.... a seal costume.....

So I go through filing and I get a whopping: $74.
Fuck you, Government.
My first job outta high school I was making the same amount of money ($16/hr in 1987, vs $20/hr now), and I got $1300 back!
Oh... and ooooooh! Economic Stimulus Package... $600!! Wow. That'll pay half ...
