This morning at Ocean Beach we had the best wind and best waves ever.
Even the lazy Santa Cruz locals drove all the way up to enjoy those magnificent kitesurfing conditions. By 11am we were in the water. The waves were so smooth and the wind so gentle that we could ride 12 foot waves while staring at them. Look back at the wave, stick five fingers in its hollow, draw lines which last less than a wing-beat and get immediately curled by the wave just behind your board.
Waves are my favorite canvas. Ste

January 5th Night - The ancient tradition of the burn

There is an ancient tradition in northern Italy, close to the Alpes.
It's the January 5th Burn. People in small towns gather together and build huge piles of wood with "the witch" on top.
The burn happens after 8 o'clock, free cakes and vin brulé wine are served to the people.
The Witch is burned in the same way the Man is burned at Burning Man, to get rid of the bad things the past year brought and for renewed hope in the future. Pan e Vin.

Time slows down during xmas holidays.
Days flow still and full of both food and memories.
Today I felt like digging in my really-very-old pictures drawer, scan and post a few of them on my tribe account.
It is like writing your own history and tracing milestones of your life.
I like looking back at my crazy teens and early twenties and try to figure out how I could survive.
And it is always a big surprise to think about where the fuck the last ten years are gone.
Happy Holidays.
