Working on the Garage

It is starting to look like a real roof. I'll be able to keep things dry next Winter and get all that extra stuff out of the house.

Berkeley Agate

I will have a display of Berkeley Agate at the San Francisco Gem and Mineral Society Show on August 2nd and 3rd in Golden Gate Park.
Lava flows in the past formed part of the hills above Berkeley. Gas bubbles trapped in this lava formed hollow areas in the stone when it cooled. Pressure from the lava flattened and drop shaped some of these bubbles. Later some of these cavities filled with agate forming drop shaped agate nodules. A few remained hollow in the center with crystals becoming geodes. This agate can be found in some areas of the Berkeley hills and along the waterfront where it was used as landfill.

Working on the Garage

Most people would not think this building could be saved. Yes the roof is completly gone in the middle part of the building. The front of the garage totaly fell off and more of the roof is falling in on the other end of the building. I believe it will rise again and I have started to rebuild the garage end this Summer.

Humarock Beach

We took my brother's boat out to Humarock Beach last night to see the fires and fireworks. A nice sight from the water. Miles of fires on the beach with fireworks lighting the sky. It was clear, calm and warm. You could even feel the warmth from the fires out at the boat.

Working on the Garage

It needs a lot of work, like a new front wall and a new roof.
Even part time, I should get it done before the winter rains.

Working on my house

Some lumber for the new roof over the garage. Twenty foot lengths of 2X6 lumber on the roof of the truck.
Deb and I got the lumber here but it is a little to hot today for working up on the roof. We can work more Monday.

Calendar Stones

The sun has set on the calendar stones.
Our hands no longer hold each other.
Still we are connected.
