about me
I'll try anything twice (the second time is to make sure I was right the first time). Many a folk think they know me, but I have several sides. Most people only know one side. Do you know more than one? A paradox; Serious yet silly, intellectual and philosophical without the pomp; passionate, casual and comfortable ("I base my fashion sense on what doesn't itch" - Gilda Radner), sometimes stubborn but I also try to have a very open mind.
Actually it's kind of funny most of my casual relationships just tend to see one side of me- whichever they bring out. I like to play the fool but don't believe it, I never see myself as one under the skin.
whoo! I'm just so complicated and mysterious and an incurable romantic to boot.

OK, Movie fans. Check it out. (blog entry) Beowulf & Grendel - I just got back from seeing a great foreign film. It was a Englis/Canadian/Icelandic in English. It was fabulous. The focus is on trhe story (quite accurate retelling of the original saga). Special effects are almost non... read more

Just got back from a week in Yosemite. AMAZING (like Spider-man, if you are cool enough to get the reference), I could describe it, but as anyone who has been there will know I couldn't do it justice. Can't wait to go back. Anyone up for a trip this summer? Be warned I want to do some hiking.

Most people reading this know I am working as a teacher (7 and 8 grade history). I worked in the inner city for a year and now I am working in a suburban town. The problems are different, but I am finding both unsatisfactory. The plus? I am good at it (teaching). The down side? It, the job, is not really about teaching. I am really a seceratary, babysitter, paper shuffler, bureaucrat, drill sargent, ...etc... . It is incredibly stressful and we (teachers) are criticized more or less daily. I ... read more

Thank you to those of you who offered your entries or engergy recently. My unclece passed way. I am comfortable in that it was peaceful for him. I am not particularly close to my family, but my Uncle Donny always made me feel like i was part of what ever was happening. He was in stage 4 bone cancer. I could not have planned a trip back to upstate New York better. We spend a week together. It was great! That guy really was a part of who I am. I hop[e I had as much effect on his life as he had... read more

Beowulf & Grendel - I just got back from seeing a great foreign film. It was a Englis/Canadian/Icelandic in English. It was fabulous. The focus is on trhe story (quite accurate retelling of the original saga). Special effects are almost non-existent. Locations and costumes are amazing. Get there if you can. it is a must see. I saw it at the Landmark Theatres on Van Ness in SF (LandmarkTheatres.com to find one near you).
Cheers

Funny (not really) I'm sitting here thinking about the nature of relationships. Almost a year ago The girl I thought I'd marry and I broke up. No one's fault, anyone involved knows the complications. Just not the right place and time. Since then I've focused on myself. But now and then there comes those times when the "lonely monster" likes to peek in and kick me in the 'nads when I'm not looking. I still think of her every day.
Here's the funny part. I know many people who think of me as a... read more

My Testimonials

Dane, in the years I've known him, has always proved to be a great friend and wonderful company. Smart, boisterous, witty. I look forward to seeing him at every faire and I'm happy to say that my boyfriend would do Dane. If they were in prison together, that is.

Not only a renn geek but a sci fi/fantasy geek as well. This guy is well rounded! And the cherry on top of the cake is that he is a fan of the best show ever to air on television, Farscape. Anyone who is a fan of Farscape is instantly my friend.
