Edit:

Nobody got the Moody Blues' "I'm Just a Singer (In a Rock n' Roll Band)"

[info]baronlaw was the first to get "Photographs" by Nickelback ('goodbye' being the hard thing to say).

I beat "Scarface: The World is Yours" quite awhile back, and I recently started playing it again anew. I seem to be prioritizing acquiring money and Reputation Points over plot completion, as I've only conquered half the map but am at Reputation level 7 of 8.

I found out that the Enforcer is a lot more useful than I had previously understood. What I had completely failed to grasp last time through (but have learned to my delight now) is that the Enforcer (a subsidiary henchman used mostly for generating money and spreading mayhem) has the in-game effect of reducing Gang Heat (static generated by certain activities tends to annoy the local gangs -- there is a similar meter for Cop Heat), which makes it vastly more useful than a simply "shoot-em-up" outlet. Apparently whenever you use him to beat down some gang members, it brings this static down, presumably by showing them who is boss.

There is also an Assassin henchwoman whose missions are phrased in a way that indicates her missions would reduce Cop Heat, in a manner similar to the Enforcer, but all game FAQs on the web indicate that this feature seems to be broken, so all she manages to do is increase both Cop Heat and Gang Heat with her activities. Which is fine, since her assassinations make money.

The rain was lovely and comforting this morning, even if it was getting on some of the items we still have in a staging area on the back porch. Some quick rearrangement sorted that out nicely.

However, I cannot find my extra-large umbrella! I had to make do with the small collapsible "emergency" umbrella. I noted, with some sadness, a gentleman waiting on the BART platform leaning on his umbrella the same way I used to do.

On a related note, I saw an umbrella while walking to work this morning -- it appeared to have a clear plastic disposable cup on the top, but I immediately recognized it as a collapsible sheath to cover the umbrella when it is closed. Handy!

I knew that Chipotle Chicken burrito was going to get dinged sooner or later. Not a surprise to see the Blooming Onion/Awesome Blossom on the list. Incidentally, do be sure to visit one of these competing steakhouses and use the term for their competitor's onion appetizer -- the wait staff enjoy correcting you each time (and usually will!).

Obviously, this is from available nutritional data provided by the big chains -- my local taqueria isn't publishing the calorie count for their cheese enchilada platter!

about me
Former Shakespearean literature student and poet with a day job. I like writing song parodies, and have a website full of them. I sometimes come up with them ex tempore, like during games, or movies, Ren Faire parades, or other suitably inconvenient times.

I enjoy playing D&D, as well as other RPGs (some GURPS and HERO system experience, as well as Call of Cthulhu).

I am also a member of "Dreams of Deirdre," a West coast LARP troupe which has done most every genre from "Paranoia" to "Changeling" to "Space Opera."
