about me
The things I find to be most important in life are movement, nature, art, and biology. I take a martial art called Boabom, where I have just moved on to the second stage and am proceeding to get my behind proverbially kicked. It is an honor to me to be part of a community full of such good-nature and light. I also partake in the spinning/fire arts. I started with traditional staff, but recently double staves have caught my attention.

Nature. Oh, nature! I live in the city right now, and keep my sanity by getting out of it quite often. As much as I love my home, and those I share it with, if I cannot get somewhere I can't hear cars, I get quite edgy. I take trips out to unpopulated places like Vermont quite often, and I love my awesome, cuddly, cheerful hippie friends.

Sculpting is another thing you may catch me doing. I focus on the human body, with some mystical or mythological influences. It's not something I was ever formally trained in; it's just something I picked up one day and knew instinctively what to do.

Biology is another thing I've been interested in for quite some time. I was preparing for med school when I was diagnosed with a seizure disorder. Now I find that outlet in conversation with friends and family, and giving advice where ever I can. I love learning about this subject, so I tend to get really excited when I find out friends are doctors or nurses.

That's about all I can think of at 2:00 a.m. on a Thursday morning, so I'll leave you with a quote I adore from a book that taught me of love:

"Written on the body is a secret code only visible in certain lights: the accumulations of a lifetime gather there. In places the palimpsest is so heavily worked that the letters feel like Braille. I like to keep my body rolled up away from prying eyes, never unfold too much, or tell the whole story..."

On Boabom, Vermont, and Fire! (blog entry) I have just completed my first stage of Boabom, Uyat. I've been doing a lot of reflection of things today. My goal is to be more patient with people around me. I do not need to be everyone's friend... just to show patience, and not give my own ... read more

I have just completed my first stage of Boabom, Uyat. I've been doing a lot of reflection of things today. My goal is to be more patient with people around me. I do not need to be everyone's friend... just to show patience, and not give my own happiness to be with those who give off such negative energy - just to try and be a light for those who do.

I feel content and relaxed today. I start a new stage next week called Gaunai (pronounced Gow-Nigh) - the second stage of Boabom, and anot... read more

I'm looking for a female of average or athletic stature to stand in a particular stance for a bit. I can sculpt this via the internets, but someone in real life would be a lot better. This particular stance needs to be near perfect in proportion to stand on its own, hence the need to have someone I can walk around.

I can't pay you in dollars, but I can certainly feed you, and pet your ego by sculpting you!

Message me if you're interested. I need someone this weekend :)

This is a general question, since I know each style is unique to them.

Are there any styles of dance you find helpful in fire performing?

On my list of types of dance to take are:
Belly Dance and Hip Hop (these must go together)
Modern?
African

My main problem is foot work because my left side is daft. The martial art I'm taking helps with those coordinations a little bit, but not in a performance sense.

Any suggestions would be helpful.
