Hello people, this is 2007 and we are still dealing with the racist violence characteristic of the lynchings of this country's bloody past. Two recent cases that make my blood boil:

Martin Lee Anderson- a 14 year old boy beaten to death by guards while in a Panama city juvenile youth camp. A recent all-white jury acquitted the guards and nurse involved in the fatal beating and cover-up of the youth.

Today is the first day of Ramadan. I am here at work trying to fast and feeling like the day should be over already. Im not used to it yet, I'll need a couple of days. I am happy and grateful for another opportunity to fast for the pleasure of Allah (swt). This is the second year in which I completely stopped dancing during the holy month.

Wow! What inspiration! Before this past weekend I had never taken workshops with male dancers for raqs sharqui. Both of these master instructors were amazingly wonderful. They each had very different styles but what I learned from each was so complementary to what the other taught.
