This was quite the week for me. I spent a day in San Francisco, started Unmata intro tribal class, had 3 interviews, and landed a job starting tomorrow. Wow, even as I type this I can’t believe all of this has happened in a week!

I’ll start with the job stuff since that’s what I’m most excited about right now. I went to a job fair with a software company last Thursday looking for a job as a software tester. I interviewed with a few people but didn’t think it went that well. I didn’t think I’d hear back from them but I got a call on Monday asking if I’d come in for another interview Tuesday, I already had an interview scheduled for Tuesday so we scheduled the second interview for Wednesday. The interview Tuesday went well and they said they’d call me back next week for another interview. So I wasn’t nervous about the interview Wednesday. It went really well and they called me back that afternoon to make me an offer. I told them I was looking at another company also and I’d have to think about it and they actually asked me how much it would take for me to accept their offer and start tomorrow. Well I named my price and they met it and I start today. I’m so excited to get back into a technical field!!!

The trip to San Francisco this weekend was great. My future sister-in-law has an uncle that works for the Port of San Fran and he invited us down to see a ship they had in port. The tour of the ship was so neat and then he took us to brunch and decided to give us a tour of the city. I’ve had tours of the city before but this one was by far the best. He had so much knowledge about the history and buildings and took us to the best views of the city I’ve ever seen. On the way back home we had dinner with my brother and his girlfriend at a super yummy pizza joint in Concord where they live. I had such a great day sightseeing and hanging out with family. Can’t wait to do it again. Chinatown is on the agenda for next time.

And now to what you all have been waiting for…Unmata classes. I thought they would be no big deal since I’d been taking the tribal fusion classes for a year. Boy was I wrong! They were completely different and tough!!! We started out learning taxeems and snake arms. The snake arms are completely different, they have low, mid and high with very little movement. We then learned how to que and do 1/4 turns and 1/8 turns with them. We formed improve lines and all took turns trying to lead and follow. I felt like a total newbie trying this. You’re supposed to change moves only on certain beat counts and I had the hardest time getting the count right and doing it at the right time. We then learned the Egyptian. A little different then what I learned but then we added new ques and I was almost completely lost. I couldn’t get this on the right beat at all. I’m amazed at how hard it all was but Shelly did a great job breaking it all down and I’m looking forward to the next class with Cassy. I’m going to learn a lot from them if I survive
