5th Annual Paint for Peace Day.... "LIGHTENING" Sept. 13, 2008 from 1PM-1AM Hosted by Sofanya's Gallery/Fernwood Resort 831-667-2130 art@sofanya.com Activities all day this year in addition to lots of painting the pieces for the large sculpture! Many travel each year to Big Sur to participate in this healing ceremony in which each participant paints a piece of puzzle which is a part of the larger work of art. No one knows what the final image will be until the last piece is inserted at the end of the "Ceremony of Oneness". It is a phenomenal demonstration of the individual as an essential part of the whole piece. No painting experience necessary....we provide all materials....this is your opportunity to have fun, paint, dance....hang out in Big Sur doing something extra special!!! $15 contribution towards materials cost. Robert Parco is putting together an amazing and surprising piece of art this year....again! Here's the basic schedule: 1PM....People arrive and begin painting Music all day.... 3PM.... "Magical Muses Art Show and dance performance by "The Bohemian Underground Artists" Christine Brown, Lana Loukianenko, Lin Simmons, Jenny Cain Nelson and special guest artist: Olga Perry....at Fernwood and The Open Stage behind Sofanya's 4:30-5:30...Poetry and stories by anyone who'd like to share "The Phoenix" experiences in their Life at The Open Stage 5:30....9PM Ceremony of Oneness .....We put all the pieces of the "puzzle" together to create the structure/sculpture and light it up! 9PM....Music!!!! "Honey Hush" is playing from 9-1AM..... DANCE & CELEBRATE LIFE..... We'll have a special poster to commemorate our 5th Annual Paint for Peace Day poster as well as celebrating our Beloved BIG SUR!

Well It's Official - The City of Seaside Art Commission is doing an Art Showing for the Bohemian Underground

The City of Seaside Art Commission has picked the Bohemian Underground Art Group to do a month long show in July of 2009 at the Walter Lee Avery Art Gallery. The show will start Weds July 8th 2009 and end on July 31rst 2009. at Seaside City Hall, Walter Lee Gallery, 440 Harcourt Ave., Seaside, CA 93955 I'll let you know when the reception is as soon as I know. We better hurry and start creating more pictures!!

Well it's official. The start of the Bohemian Underground has begun. You are a witness to the beginning....... Bohemian Underground B.U. (Be You!) About us…. Started in 2007, the Bohemian Underground is a new and fresh artistic community. The vision of artists Lana Loukianenko, Christine Brown, Lin Simmons and Jenny Nelson is to nurture artists who are looking for an outlet to grow and create. Like the Impressionist movement before us, the Bohemian Underground is a group of artists who have gathered together to follow their true art expression. We believe art is endless and is everywhere……… We believe art creates energy that affects people to make them think. The life force and the power of beauty in the universe is shared, which in turn creates spiritual awareness, healing and fosters peace and humanity within ourselves. Studying the techniques of the classic Renaissance Masters, the skills learned can be translated into modern art. We encourage artists of all ages and of all skill levels to share how beautiful the world really is with their vision. We are inspired by the beauty in nature, dance, music and art and we hope to include in our group those brave and passionate hearts that must create to make the world a better place.

Picture "Oh Behave" won Best of Show at Monterey Erotic Art Festival

Well we finally did it! Out of all the beautiful art work submitted at the Erotic Art Festival in Monterey, CA on Saturday, 2/16/08 at the Planet they chose "Oh Behave" as Best of Show. Wow what an honor. I was so shocked as they annouced the winner. What a thrill to have my other art mates with me, Lana, Jenny and Lynn. Jamaica belly danced. Honey Hush and Eddie Gutierrez along with Craig on drums played awesome music. Also Sombahemians rocked the house and the Big Sur Fire Dancers performed. Thanks to all the performers and artists, especally Uncle Jam and Veronica for putting on such a great art show. Also thanks to my love, Craig. It is a night I will always remember.

Belly Queen Performed in Santa Cruz

Wow - what a great performance by Belly Queen from New York. I was very excited to meet Kaeshi, Amar Gamal and the rest of the troupe. What incredible dancers. It was in a small venue so we got right up front and after the show we got to talk with the troupe. I'll post the pictures as soon as Lana e-mails them to me (pics are on her camera). I especially loved their hip hop belly fusion and the carousel group piece. Their dance theatrics are incredible. Also great were local dancers Janelle, Crystal Silmi (who is going to be featured on the next BDTV #3) and Sandra. Thanks girls!!!! Also I picked up a great music cd from "djinn". Awesome.
