My Blog
Excited about this weekend!
A little less that 4 days left until MedFest. I'm pretty excited. I'm almost just as excited to watch a whole bunch of locals (and not-so-locals) perform non-stop for 2 days as I am to perform myself. I'll be bringin' my camera and see if I can get at least 1 or 2 good shots each of my dancydancer friends. Then charge them say... $40 for a CD... Just kidding..I'll be performing on both days this year. On Saturday, I'm gonna do a solo. Since it's entirely improv, as usual, I think my main focus will just be to relax, have fun, and just "be". Then on Sunday I'm gonna do a 2 for 1. By that I mean 2 firsts in one dance. My first duet and my first choreography performed. For that one, my goal is to relax, have fun and... remember the choreography!...
This will also be the first year that I'll be going both days and stickin' around the whole time. I usually come by for a few hours, get uncontrollably sleepy and have to go home and take a nap. Heat, stimuli, and shopping make Muna sleepy. But this year, I think I can make it through.
Don't forget to bring you parasols and fans to MedFest this weekend! 74 degrees on saturday and 82 degrees on Sunday. ...Okay, so it could be hotter, but that doesn't say much about all the standing and walking in the sun.
*Hears a loud thumping in chest*
*Keels over and dies of a heart attack*Muna pays the ultimate price for the sin of NOT KNOWING there was a Death Note live action movie coming out next week! Don't care if it sucks ass, I'll be there just to see live action L!
The Death Note is under suspect, but most likely her death was caused by ventricular fibrillation from anxiety and caffeine overdose-- she has issues with that.
Wanna go now!
2 hours of work left before I can go home and get ready to go to Cirque Du Soleil. Impatience setting in. Inner child wining.I'm so excited. I know it'll be a mix of entertainment and inspiration-- and pulling my hair out going "Must... learn.. to .. *do*.. that!" When I'm learning to belly dance, my brain gets trained to want to do anything that's shocking or requires physical skill (surprisingly I don't do things like backbends, ouch! My poor back!). Heck, if I thought I had a chance, I'd learn to do that thing where you spin around on your head. But I'm afraid that, if I did it, it suddenly wouldn't be cool anymore... Maybe some day... maybe some day..
Videos
Video-taping is a wonderful thing in the world on dancing and some people really like to see themselves on tape......I am not one of those people...
I am so not photogenic and I'm not very video-genic either. Watching myself flapping my arms around is painful.
Sometimes I love my dad
He sent me an email entitled "Huge Storm" and it said:"All,
We were not able to escape the huge storms hitting all over the country.
Check out the devastation we had last night!!!!
Dad"
And he included this picture.
Research Project
So I have decided to take a class to learn how to research effectively. I want to learn more about dance culture and history as it is relevant to my own style. But Belly Dance has got to be one of the most difficult subjects to study-- well, that's been my experience so far. So, I'm starting this project with a clear mind (ready to let go of anything that I thought I knew about Belly dance and it's history).5 Stars to Bellydance on Tribe.net
I just got internet on my work computer and now I'm addicted to Tribe.net. Not just any forums, though. It's the collection of ads, info and discussions on bellydance stuff. It's great reading all the information dancers share with each other. They also seem to have the best etiquette as well. Very respectful, even when expressing a differing opinions. NONE of the other topics I have attempted to explore here compare. Whenever I read anything, it too often ends up in some argument and I have to move on.What a great collection of strong individuals to listen to and learn from! Maybe I should stop being a vouyer, and start posting and commenting myself...
