Leah Wilson reporting from Kootenay Lake, the weather has fallen, and a new season of programming has started at Kootenay Coop Radio. Continuing as the host of Powerlines every Friday, some shows will be live in studio, and now I am in search of a funny fun replacement guest co-hosts to keep the dynamic of the show sharp. (Howlin' Dan will always be the duo mojo missing until he comes back).
Stay tuned for rockin the boat music, from tango to punk with a bunch of Canadian Indi Rock, with ...

Photography is really getting me interested in colour again, the depth when light is present
is remarkable in a facinating kind of science in sight and perception. Red Paint, somehow
this particular photo really jives with me, would be cool to see really really big, like 10 feet by
6 feet big, in a really big room all by itself and a few black walls - yeah!

Finding time to paint as interesting as the adventure finding time to paint is the answer.
Feels like forever since I have posted to tribe, the blogging is appealing with a mind full
of tasking and further tasking however all to good end, its the beginning & middle that
further balance is required.
The Bird painting series of seven in acrylic, roughly the same size 16x20, my desire is to find that
perfect humble yet spacious white wall gallery - to see the birds fly around the room in ...

This is a new painting. A co-created concept where Dan & I conspired the design and process together.
So far it has been on display at the Red Fish Grill in Nelson BC, and "The Big Picture" exhibition at the Crawford Bay Hall, an event hosted by the Community Arts Council of Creston for BC Arts and Culture Week. The public reception to this piece has inspired us to create more such types of paintings. Where using a combination of wet on wet techniques for the background, and then cutting out...

Funny thing, first they paid us to spin fire for their events, now they want us to fill out this red tape and insurance issues are halting us from performing with fire, not because of what we do, but because "they" think its best.... not sure if the people who attend the events in
Kimberley think its best, cause now, we do not spin fire there.... hmph, its kind of sad really because once we practiced in the Platzl when ever we wanted, for that matter, we practiced where ever we wanted in Kim...

This is at the Starbelly Jam Music Festival in 2007, a great family style festival that takes place on the East Shore of Kootenay Lake in August, 2 stages of great music, lots of colour and fun, with a GIANT PARADE on Sunday.. my favorite part of the festival besides dancing to the music. So looking forward to this year for I have the green light to make a few new giant puppets and masks with the kids this year.

Working with Highpoint has been such a super rewarding experience, wonderful friendships/business partners who can really ham it up.
This is Steve in the middle, Hiedi on the right, and I am in the Green hat, about to go down into the pub and make a spectacle of ourselves in Elkford, they did not ask us to really, but we felt it was a good way to let off some steam from a hard days work, being so silly in this photo, it felt like a money shot, something one would see in Rolling Stone mag fr...

Stiltwalking for Highpoint performance three years now, I found this pic from last year for the Elkford Wildcat Parade, a super great time was had. Wearing a soft flexible fabric mask is so easy in the summer months, a little warm still comfortable though.
This picture is of Sasha & I, hamming it up for the camera's, funny how I can be shy in normal cloths, but in costume its fun
to pose and have pictures taken.

This tribal dance by Ashala was beautiful, powerful and full of jungle mojo. This picture was a fluke, but I am so glad it is, for in so many ways it represents the vibe of the space, the haunted basement to the warm glow of the room, the electric energy, and the magic of the night. Thank you Ashala for being a part of this great event, A night in the Jungle Room was a hit, and you were the star! Yeah!

Thank you Kathy, so glad this is yours now, it picked you for sure.
This is part of my new series that explores the powerful symbol of carved godess and god creature spirits that are created to give us strength, resolved, spritual leadership, safe and protected feelings, something we need more and more as our world changes, as it ever has and will be changing.

This was a highlight event for me this winter. Connecting with Robyn & Ashala was a big part of the greatness to this event for me.
The art, the food, the sangria, the music, the people, the space, everything was so devine and excellent, finesse and ease was in abundance, laughter and good times, with so many people visiting on purpose from the east shore, Nelson, Castlegar, and area, wow, what a thill. Makes me want to do this all the time :O)
Thanks again everyone!

Thank you to the Redfish Grill on Baker Street in Nelson.
A night in the jungle room, was a huge success, full of confirmations and compliments, friends, new friends, and wonderful people.
There was music by Howlin' Dan, Kris LeDrew, Ben & Ted & Alan (thanks so much for the sounds system, what a great sound!) and Beth who I love to see out and about playing music, performance art by the wonderful bellydancing and beautiful Ashala, with the Redfish showing its hospitality and vibrant persona...

The tiki is an interesting symbol and tribal image, being a totem for safe passage. Much like we have here in Canada, our little piles of stones found at the heads of hiking trails represent something very similar... this path is safe, people have been and will be here.
There are all kinds of faces found in Tiki lore, my favorite are the ones with different expressions with their mouths and teeth.
When painting this piece, it was all about attitude, the teeth are gnashing as though the t...

Hanging the art show "A night in the Jungle Room" at the Redfish Grill on Baker was so exciting and fun.
A co-show with Daniel Silakiewicz, the man I love, was a thrill and so amazing of an experience for us to share together.
Being a dinning establishment there are time windows for the hanging to take place, so planning out the walls in our sketch books was a good idea, so when we started to finished it only took an hour... that is record for the size of the show :O)
The show itself was ...
