Blog is such an ugly word

Okay, so I says to myself, "Self, you are single, you have some money, your friends have not be very successful and introducing you to suitable snugglebunnies, why not try a dating service?". So after poking around, I though I'd do "Table For Six", which matches up three couples for dinner at a local restaurant. Sounds simple enough, actually it sounds like something interesting, so I go and talk to the people running this. I can not believe the price, $2500!!! for a two year contract. I ... read more

The surgery is over and I'm slowly getting my life back to normal. The only thing I can't do yet is lift more than 15 pounds, I even did yoga yesterday, although I'm a lot weaker than I'd like I'm sure it'll come back. It really was quite an amazing experience, I'm still trying to grasp and figure out all of the emotions swirling around. Most of the hospital experience is a bit of blur (narcotics will do that to you). There was quite a bit of pain for a few days, but it was about what I e... read more

I had an epiphany yesterday, I really like to drink. I know, a blinding flash of the obvious, but since I haven't been able to drink since last Halloween and won't be able to again until Labor Day, I've been realizing all of these social situations that have alcohol present, and how it feels a little strange to not partake. I mean, I don't normally drink that often, maybe once or twice a month and I haven't been drunk in years, but it does feel strange to not be able to. I've also noticed ... read more

Yay! To whoever the Norse god that invented the ski, thank you. If you haven't guessed, I stole up to mountains today for a bit of skiing and just had a great time. I can really credit taking yoga for this one, my yoga instructor just loves to work out the quadriceps and it really helped big time. Yippie!!

Well, I'm having surgery in Febuary, and really, I am almost looking forward to it, almost. It's helps that I'm donating party of my liver to save the life of a friends Mom, but in reality I've been in a bit of a rut lately, and if nothing else this'll be a giant kick in the pants. I mean, you know, you get up, feed the cats, go to work, come home, fix something that vaguely resembles food (after feeding the cats again), go to bed. Rinse, lather, repeat. I mean, it's not that bad, but som... read more

Todays Mental Stretch

Our government... teaches the whole people by its example. If the government becomes the lawbreaker, it breeds contempt for law; it invites every man to become a law unto himself; it invites anarchy.
Louis D. Brandeis

We all do 'do, re, mi,' but you have got to find the other notes yourself.
Louis Armstrong

Always forgive your enemies - nothing annoys them so much.
Oscar Wilde

Smiling is very important. If we are not able to smile, then the world will not have peace. It is not by going out for a demonstration against nuclear missiles that we can bring about peace. It is with our capacity of smiling, breathing, and being peace that we can make peace.
Thich Nhat Hanh

There are two means of refuge from the miseries of life: music and cats.
Albert Schweitzer

A man is a little thing when he works by and for himself; but when he gives voice to the rules of love and justice, he is godlike.
Ralph Waldo Emerson
