Dance Frustration

   Tue, October 23, 2007 - 10:56 AM

I'm feeling frustrated today with my progress in belly dance. I need to achieve more flexibility. I'm thinking of taking up yoga. Just which yoga I have not yet decided.

My moves seem stiff and artificial to me.

My snake arms look like stick woman arms!

I've now taken 7 classes for a total of 21 class hours.... I know I'm a beginner but I want to move with fludity.

Can a 30 something woman who has never taken dance in her life really learn to dance Tribal Fusion belly dance? I'm hoping that I can and will.

I want to learn this dance so badly. I burn inside with it. I dream about dancing frequently. But I feel I have a huge learning curve to overcome.

Not only do I need to learn how to dance but I need to learn to love my body.

Aaay, I, I,

Swan

It will come
Everything seems so hard at first, but I promise, it will come. You have a good teacher that will help you overcome your obstacles. Snake arms take so much time, so don't beat yourself up!

Even better is when you will get passed snake arms and then another move will haunt you over and over. I believe many dancers are perfectionists and I CERTAINLY cannot be excluded from that. The feeling is mutual, but as long as you drill, drill, drill you'll pull through. Your arms may hurt a bit though! ;p
