      <title>Up to and including the Drag March</title>

    &lt;/a&gt;
										&lt;div&gt;Yesterday I got off of work early due to upgrades being done on my computer. I took advantage of this by going to the fabric stores on 39th street. I'm not sure if Project Runway made them too popular, but their prices were trough the roof. In particular I was looking for faux fur for 2 or 3 satyr costumes for BTW (since Pan is our token Deity) Everyone starts at a price but for me they'll give it to me for a better price. This is annoying. Just put a fucking price tag on your bolts of cloth. I did get sidetracked and found fabric made of black leather and black feathers.&#xD;
A-MAZ-ING &#xD;
If I were independently wealthy I would have paid the $225/yd fabric.&#xD;
Anyway, I did find faux fur in 3 different stores. First on started pricing at $25/yd, second place gave me a price to which I immediately turned around and left. They ran after me saying, name a price, name a price to which I replied "not when your starting price is $45/yd" I finally found a place that had really nice faux fur for $15/yard to which I got 1 1/2 yards. Will start experimenting shortly. &#xD;
&#xD;
I still had time before meeting a friend for dinner and decided to buy a late birthday present for myself from Macy's. Got a Fossil bag and cologne. It's probably been 20 years since I bought cologne. I chose Black by Bvlgari. Lot's of descriptions of it's smell. One person says a woody, smokey, rubbery, gourmond scent. bergamont, jasmine, cedar, sandlewood, leather, vanilla. To me it smells like really nice cigar smoke got all over my clothes and had me saying "who's your Daddy?" all night.&#xD;
&#xD;
My bags are now very bulky. I go to dinner with Robert Alverez, reflect on the above and part ways around 9 pm. I'm trying to find the subway so I can drop off all these bags, freshen up and return to the city. On the way I approach the Stonewall and see a huge crowd. I then realize that this is where the Drag March ended. I find Chris G, his roommate, then Tif one of the Faeries that happens to be a lawyer that has been working on NY marraige equality, also find Nicky that I went to Short Mountain Beltaine with.&#xD;
&#xD;
You might call it being in the right place at the right time or being divinely guided by the Gods, but Urban Ritual was starting.&#xD;
As Faeries will be, there was 3 - 4 drums going and someone was trying to form a circle in the middle of the street. Chris and I were chanting 'We are a circle, within a circle, with no beginning and never ending" The circle begins moving clock wise, people are asking can they join&#xD;
&#xD;
And then the 3 police officers enter the center&#xD;
&#xD;
to break it up&#xD;
&#xD;
The police have obviously never been to circle of any kind, cause you can not contain that energy once it hits a certain point.&#xD;
&#xD;
The mental state at that point, because the NY Senators had still not voted, was hell no, we won't go. No one was going anywhere. The police tried to drive their golf carts converted to police vehicles thru the crowd.&#xD;
&#xD;
No one was moving.&#xD;
&#xD;
At this point one Drag Queen jumped on the bumper of the police golf cart. The nearest police officer grabbed her arm while reaching for his handcuffs. The Drag Queen broke free and another officer went after her. it was reminicent of scene in Indiana Jones, cause the crowd opened up for the Drag Queen and immediately closed off access to her from the police.&#xD;
&#xD;
At this point the there were 5 officers standing together getting ready to force the issue and literally 20 cams came up in the air surrounding them.&#xD;
&#xD;
Really, you want to do this on this day with all this media?&#xD;
&#xD;
The Baby Dykes started chanting a call and response of "who's street?" "Our Street!" "who's street?" "Our Street!" "who's street?" "Our Street!"&#xD;
&#xD;
Tif was negotiating with the police. They were saying to make them back down, to which he replied "I've assisted you every time, but not now, not tonight, and absolutely not before we get a vote!"&#xD;
&#xD;
They finally got back in their police golf carts and backed up and redirected traffic.&#xD;
&#xD;
I have a feeling that this will not be the last time this happens this weekend.&#xD;
