Dumbed Down in Dublin

I'm getting fat. Beer and potatoes. Why must they haunt me everywhere I go?

Dublinia is slowly but surely creeping under my skin and I think I am finally FINALLY finding the Dublin I had expected to find. Funny old blokes with missing teeth and cheeky wise cracks at the pub. Understated national pride. Lotsa green stuff. Mash everything. Smelly Guinness farts.

Gormless in Galway

It's Christmas Day and I'm sitting in an Irish hostel surrounded by other international orphans. Not really feeling the love right now. My boyfriend is standing over my shoulder, rolling his eyes over the fact that I'm wasting my time making up a blog entry. It's the type of thing we've both scoffed at in the past.
