I started dancing around bonfires back in my 20s at pagan festivals, but I never took any classes. At the time, I didn't understand that bellydance was NOT suppose to be for men's benefit and so I avoided it as I was pretty feminist back then (still am but much more relaxed). Met my English husband, moved to the UK, became and ecologist, went through the expat thing and not having any friends. Then I went to my first bellydance class right after the holidays in January 2008. So, I practice every day and go to class every week. I practice everyday and am drawn to the Egyptian styles of oriental and beled. I am so much happier with myself, understanding what bellydance is really about, being able to share it with other people, having my husband support me and all that I have been blessed with.
