about me
I started dancing around bonfires back in my 20s at pagan festivals, but I never took any classes. At the time, I didn't understand that bellydance was NOT suppose to be for men's benefit and so I avoided it as I was pretty feminist back then (still am but much more relaxed). Met my English husband, moved to the UK, became and ecologist, went through the expat thing and not having any friends. Then I went to my first bellydance class right after the holidays in January 2008. So, I'm a newbie but I practice every day and go to class every week. I will be attending my first Jewel of Yorkshire and taking workshops in a couple of weeks and I am also going to see Bellydance Superstars and take some workshops in June. My life is forever changed. I am so much happier with myself, understanding what bellydance is really about, being able to share it on a spiritual level with other women, having my husband support me and all that I have been blessed with.

Re: Khaled's nemesis

Well duh! And Captain Piccard also wins hands down over Praetor Shinzon, but everybody's gotta have a nemesis!

Re: creepy new tribe guy
(in Tribal Bellydance)
I was looking at my Flickr account once and noticed some guy had made one of the holiday photos of me as one of his 'favourites'. So I clicked on it and EEK! He was a belly button fetishist! There my belly button was amongst all these others, a...

Khaled's nemesis
(in Khalila's sisters)
I know we all love Khaled. But this guy certainly gives Khaled some competition, at least in the tummy department. Of all the dancers in this vid, its the guy most I notice rather than the girlz (and not for any hotness factor either).

I haven't yet had time to sit down and write about this amazing past weekend, and I'm not sure I could say everything I wanted to say in the 25 minutes of lunch I have left free to me. But my experiences at JOY were great on so many levels. First and foremost, it was so nice to spend quality time with my bellydance sistahs...those I see on a weekenly basis for an hour or so, but never had time to have more meaningful conservations. I am just blessed to have such kind, funny, supportive an...
