Lis
a present day mystic
her message clear not cryptic
lucid like wind moving mists thick. . .
Lis
a myst-ery
she helps us see
what it means to live free
deep rooted
a tree
dancing gracefully with the sky
she makes me shy
gives me butterflies
slows time
invokes rhymes
most sacred and intentional
non-attached like leaves in the fall
Lis
the goddess embodying all

alissa fills my heart of life with complete joy and inspiration. in these years of friendships growth my admiration has continously erupted to levels beyond what charts can hold.
i am endlessly amazed by her love, action, depth, dance, and constant evolution.
she will wake in the morning and make the most amazing crepes you have ever tasted.
she will fall asleep on the couch with the cutest smile on her face.
she will put her soft hands out when you need them.... and for all these reasons and a gajillion more i will proclaim my love and respect for this beauty supreme gurl until i cant speak.....
now she just has to move to the northeast and the circle will be complete!

Lis is like a pleasant breeze that you wish would always blow--it's always good to have her around. She is a re-enchantrees indeed seeking the magical in the daily and the profound. Her convictions and vision go with her in all that she does, plus she's so damn sweet. Lis is my adopted sister for so many reasons. She is great to share silence with, her bed is a great place to curl up and read a book, she's the kind of lady you want to go on a road trip with.
Lis, thank you for doing such a good job of existing, and for being such an awesome friend.

Lis really is the cat's lingerie (tutu, if it's a boy cat). Heed this boys: if you want this girl to settle down and make you the most fabulous salad dressing in the world for the rest of your life, come dressed in a tutu. If you're a girl, all you need do is eat a fig in her presence. Sprinkle with rosewater & she'll love you forever.
Lis is yummy. She makes everything else yummy too, and she does it with beauty, grace, wisdom and squeals of joy. I count her as another sister. And she's sexy on her motor bike in my leather jacket.

anyone out there with colorful creative hands who wants to illustrate a series of children's books i've written?
i'm wanting to get them published and use any proceeds from book sales to send supplies to schools in west africa...but my drawing skills are, well, not in line with the vision in my mind....
and-i'm looking for a place in town to live with my dog..
so, collaborators, any takers?

it is five am and i am awake, with the pink-grey dawn and an avian orchestra and
the eerie buzzing of electricity running through this house.
everything is different now,
with all my senses reprogrammed to african experiences and
the wires are shorting out trying to sort out all the sounds that stand out and were once drowned out
in silence..
what is this refridgerator doing here, sucking electricty from the walls and keeping all this food cold? who's going to eat this? how are th...

i am white
anonymous light
another toubab born too bright my original skin defines my
undivine sight i am white
no name no soul no story to be told only skin
the color of something to unfold
some consequence of cold some ghost born from gold i am white
a dollar sign an accident a misplaced face
a promise of escape a magnetic shape
drawing all the desperate moths to their last days chase
i am white
the one whose hair and teeth and palms all merge
with the calm
color of s...

she is bold
ears strung with gold
her fetishes made from the bones of the old
and on her head
she holds:
the fabric of souls
her slender neck sinking from the weight of full bowls
four meals
(her hips spin like wheels, i am told)
and she heals
with hands that are stiff like the strength of
steel-
sisters
scarring their skin to identify their kin
clits cut at age ten and then
they endure
the weak will of men
with so many wives, nine infants through their thighs
and a soft ye...
