about me
I am an herbal educator, herbalist and wild food enthusiast. I am also a home cheese maker. I am a strong advocate for women and encouraging our connection to strong feminine energy and the wise woman tradition.

It was a bit of a shock, since the day before it got cold here, I was digging the last of the roots from the garden. I dug sunchokes and elecampane. I was very insistent that we needed to dig them that day and sure enough the next day, the ground began to freeze. I love this time of year, I love t...

I found this poem in a book titled The Nature of Healing. I thought some of you might enjoy it.
The Remedies
by Joseph Bruchac
Half on the Earth, half in the heart,
the remedies for all the things

and South American people know
the quinine cure for malaria
a thousand years ago.
But it is not just in the roots,
the stems, the...

The Rootwomen
by J. Goldspinner
The rootwomen are here and there and everywhere
They creep between long and shadowed trees at dusk
hurry down narrow paths
with their oakwoven baskets over their arms
scurry thru twisty tunnels u...

I posted this on the herbal wisdom tribe and thought I would include it here as well.
If this is true and I do believe it is, then how do we make sound decisions for our health? The question I like to ask, is how do I want to get there? What process do I want to go through in order to thrive? Thriving requires a journey and I know personally that I am most interested in nourishing myself and those around me. So my bottom line question no matter what other modalities I enlist is where is t...

Relocation for mysef as a bioregional herbalist (one who chooses to incorporate the plants that grow nearby) has proven to be an opportunity to connect with new plants on a more intimate level. 5 years ago I moved from the Pacific Northwest to the Midwest.
One of the plants I have been fortunate enought to build a stronger relationship with Monarda fistulosa, commonly known as Bee Balm or wild bergomot. While I grew Monarda didyma in my garden while living in Seattle, I did not harvest v...
