Ouchies practicing Poi...
Tue, November 6, 2007 - 7:21 PMSo I am suffering major ouching practicing poi lately.
My shoulders have begun telling me enough attempts at Behind the back work, we dont' go there.
But now I'm having issues with my hands.
I love my practice poi.
I have learned a whole bunch of new moves shorting my "string" or length
but by holding the sock knot inmy hand, and threading it between two fingers to
spin a short length.. my thumb/index finger, or whatever fingers are holding it
wind up incredibly sore/stiff - very quickly.
So I put down my poi because my hands hurt.
Anyone else ever have similar experiences?
Any suggestions?
My poi are what keep me happy....except when they hurt.

Wear squishy gloves when winding poi about one's fingers? Just an idea.

Alternate exercise, you need to strengthen your hands and rear delts, make a fist as hard as you can for a 5 count then straighten your fingers as far as youcan for a 5 count, 6 times each hand. Delts get a towel hold it at chest hight try to rip it in half for a 3-5 count 2-3 times. this will help alot :)!
