you know, wishing won't make it so. hoping won't do it. praying won't do it, religion won't do it, philosophy won't do it, the supreme court won't do it, the president and the congress won't do it, the UN won't do it, the h-bomb won't do it, the sun and the moon won't do it, god won't do it, and I certainly won't do it. that leaves you, you'll have to do it.

What's been goin' on

A best friend met a man who stung people. Bee venom helps arthritis sufferers, but more remarkably MS patients can also attain positive benefits from the venom. Of course before you go to get stung, bring some benadryl or something in case you are very allergic. An allergy test from the doctor is not reliable. Sometimes it gives fake negatives and fake positives too. So this guy in Youngstown, Oh has MS. It used to be he couldn't see or walk due to it, and now he can do both. Today is the thi... read more

It has just settled down in here, though I have about half a dozen stings after this commotion. By 'commotion' I of course mean good ol' fun. My best friend in Ohio is raising queen bees this year, and to help him out I took some orders from various Richmond area beekeepers. I got back from Ohio on Monday night, called those who ordered them, and one person came by tonight to pick up a couple. It was then I realized out of ten total queens, two of them didn't make it. But that's okay for the ... read more

it was coming up on april 10 and i was excited like a kid at kwanzaa. i was fortunate to have both my hives survive this winter, but that is never any guarantee of next year's survival rate. you can make all the right moves and still lose your hives to some unexpected event be it weather or otherwise. so, i decided last fall i was going to increase the number of hives i had this year. just as a way to increase my chances at having at least 2 strong hives make it into spring the next year so i... read more

it has been a very nice spring for bees. for the two hives i had over winter, spring started back when they were able to bring in nectar on a regular basis not hampered by weather and helped by their own burgeoning population. for me it was when i put the supers on them to collect the extra honey. this year, it was close to the same time which is what you want. one of the hives , the one that blew over the least, ....

...okay, editor's note. i am writing this from my apartment with the win... read more

A report from the U.S. Department of Energy has found that wind power is capable of becoming a major contributor to America’s electricity supply over the next three decades. I saw a blog that compared gold prices with oil prices. It was a Ron Paul related blog and so I did not dive too deeply in, but it did have one graph that showed the price of gold as compared to the price of oil. They were in lock step. It is not [...]

I always took with a strong pinch of salt the aviation industry’s claims that they are working to become environmentally friendly. In this profit-ridden, ruthless business, the point is to get more people flying. And thus increase carbon emissions. So it’s no surprise that a report that had been ’suppressed’ (an euphemism for censored), and which [...]
