about me
I have always loved dancing and studied various styles from an early age, such as; Ballet, Hip Hop, Salsa and Flamenco. I finally settled on Middle Eastern Dance in 2000. My favourite styles are Egyptian Baladi, Modern Egyptian and dancing with the veil. I am currently focusing on Classical Egyptian and dancing with live bands. I am currently under the tutelage from the Drumzy School of Egyptian Dance to further my dance knowledge and skills. I try to visit Cairo yearly to receive tuition from master teachers, choreographers and performers. In April I attended the Nile Group Festival, it was so amazing I am planning on returning next year.

I enjoy organising, producing and promoting haflah's and professional dance shows. In 2006 I organised a few "Bellydance Parties" for students. The BD party allowed students to perform new or favourite choreographies, wear their costumes and dance the night
away in a relaxed, warm and friendly environment.
In March 2007 I organised "Oshaak El Neel" show which was held at the Reading Town Hall. I wanted to showcase professional dancers and teachers to the students. Kathryn wanted to open up the bellydance community to other dance forms, such as Flamenco and Bollywood.

My Blog

I was invited to perform at the 'Yallah' Haflah in Andover, I decided to dance to "Ala Rimsh Eyouna".
I had a warm welcome when I arrived and I was pleased to see some of my Basingstoke students were there too. I was on in the second half so I could sit back and enjoy the first section.

I had a marvellous time while performing and I could see the audience watching my every move.
After my performance I received a lot of favourable comments and was expecially pleased when one member of the... read more

Well tonight is the night of the show, and I am feeling rather nervous and apprehensive about a few of the numbers I am in (namely the opening and finale) but I have spent the last two weeks at long rehearsals with the girls so everything should be fine, but it doesnt stop the old butterflies from making an appearance.

I am looking forward to working/dancing with fantastic people, I know the atmosphere back stage and on stage will be amazing and electric, hoping it will calm my nerves:-)

Planet Egypt was FANTASTIC.

The girls and I arrived nice and early (Rachel, Helen, Nadine and my very good friend Kathryn G), so early we were the first ones there. We had time to get something to eat and drink before people arrived.
When Anne White arrived I popped over to her, and she showed me her new business cards (which we worked on together), I was gobsmacked by how damn good they looked, I now carry a few around with me just because they are so lovely.

It was soon time to get r... read more

On sunday I had a training session with Hossam and Serena Ramzy (part of their course). As usual I spent the first 2 hours with Hossam, learning about Rhythms and playing them on the tabla. Since Hossam has taught me the Rhythm basics and how they are related to each other, I find it easier to recognise them in music.
The next 2 hours were spent with Serena, I am currently developing musical interpretation, listening and response skills. At the start of the session Serena asked if I would l... read more

What a wonderful weekend, one of the best dance festivals I have been too, Kay Taylor certianly surpassed herself with this weekend. Once again the amosphere was extremely friendly, very welcoming and well organised, everything ran smoothly. The dance venue and hotel were amazing, couldn't fault a thing.

The workshops were well thought out and planned, during each workshop I felt I had been given individual attention and mini challenges. The teachers gave careful consideration to all stude... read more
