I have always found it to be an interesting circumstance of the great cycle of life, that even though comedian/shaman Bill Hicks died in 1994, his bits seem relevant today due to the stagnation found in our political and cultural life in the USA. Bill railed against Bush, the elder, but most of what he says applies to the younger also (whom he would have skewered). David Jaroneski (bass) and Debbie Flood (drums) have joined me to create "Buddhaverse". Our first performance will be on August 13th, as part of the Waterlemon Festival. Our stage time is noon, right in front of Guitar Works on Cary. We have a 30 minute set planned, one cover and the rest are my originals. We hope to freestyle some stuff as well. Zendo:
a Japanese term translating roughly as "meditation hall". In Zen Buddhism, the zendo is a spiritual dojo where zazen (sitting meditation) is practiced.
"D'oh!":
the comical catch phrase of Homer Simpson, from the long-running animated series The Simpsons. It is typically used when Homer injures himself, realizes that he has done something stupid, or when something bad has happened to him.
Zendoh:
a beautiful human being, kind, compassionate, creative, adventurous, fun-loving, and generous to a fault. He is one of the finest people I have ever met, and one of the most talented guitarists I have ever been blessed to hear. His humble optimism and enthusiastic joy for life are contagious!
