with a capital S. i have been back for almost two weeks now! i hit the ground running on some work projects, and so, haven't made the time to type out my final, proper blog about the last days in biloxi and the trip home.
had a great time there. got a ride to Los Angelese with a despondent ex podiatrist, intellectual property attorney, soon-to-be divorcee with a lot on his mind. he said he was driving straight through to LA, seemed to be stable enough, and was willing to put up with my re...

I woke up hungover and sick from booze and too much shitty cheeze the night before. So I lay in my tent and kept falling asleep whenever the slightest breeze blew through, then waking up again when it'd start to swelter.
Disappointed that I'd missed the morning work crew who'd gone back out to Bayou La Batre to unload the shrimp boat, I realized I don't need to waste a lot of time here going to concerts like I do all the time at home. It's just not what I'm here for. I forgave myself for ...

Yesterday I got up early adn went out with a work crew to Bayou La Batre. There is a buddhist temple there run by a pair of tenacious Vietnamese nuns. On an income of $600 a month they manage to somehow support themselves and take in others in need.

It's getting a bit cooler now. Rain has been sprinkling on and off today. Most of the work envolves stocking and hyoomanning the supermarket. it seems to be the same grateful customers every day.
some folks suspect that a sort black market is opening up around here where stuff gets collected from these centers and then redist...

the vietnamese community here in biloxi is rather large and makes up the bulk of survivors who have stayed. the temple crew (my camp) is set-up on the grounds of the community buddhist temple. this morning, when i woke up, there was a line of folks running all the way across the front of the parking lot and part-way up the street. it wasn't the usual line of folks waiting to come in and shop, although it was alot of the same people. these folks were waiting to pick up checks; fifty dollars ap...

kneeling there by the gold stream with a pan of rocks
I saw you there, my nugget of glimmering honey light

Straight out of heaven and into my pan
you are a sweet, sweet nugget o' love

Swiveling into my life
like a tender kiss on the cheek
JUST when I need it most
A hug that restores my faith
in the cosmic grace of fate
Talented and gorgeous
