I'm 32. I'm engaged to a beautiful, wonderful woman, whom I've had the pleasure of being with for over three years. I'm a professional sportswriter for a newspaper in my hometown. I'm also an amateur drummer and a professional fantasy sports player (since I get paid for playing when I do good, I guess that makes me a professional). I love music (specifically Metal), and I'm a diehard fan of the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Indians, Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Cavaliers and Cleveland State Vikings. People say I'm funny (I do imitations pretty well), and I'm a nice guy (I have a lot of friends). Other than that, I'm just me.

Well, this is my first public comment on the freak accident that occured on July 18, which resulted in me spending 17 days in intensive care at MetroHealth's burn unit and 17 more days at my house rehabbing, resting and recovering and getting myself back into my old self in time for the end o... read more
In less than 12 hours, I will be at the Schottenstein Center in Columbus for the Ohio State Wrestling Tournament. This will be my 7th year covering the event for my paper. Each year, I'm told I do a great job covering it, and I'm expecting this year to be more of the same. Our overall numbers are down out there (just 44 total wrestlers from our 4-county coverage area), but several could win state championships or at least make the championship match. I'm excited, nervous and stressed all at t... read moreThu, March 1, 2007 - 1:03 AM permalink - 0 comments
I just witnessed, for the 10th time in my life, the greatest metal band to ever walk the earth, Slayer, in concert. Fucking fantabulous, I must say. They sounded better than I've ever heard them, honest to God. Having Dave Lombardo back on drums, I believe, has been great for them. Tom Araya's vocals were great, Kerry King's and Jeff Hanneman's guitar playing was stellar as always. Just a phenomenal show. I was also impressed with Children of Bodom and Lamb of God (aka Slayer Jr.). Slayer per... read moreSat, July 1, 2006 - 8:37 PM permalink - 0 comments
By this time tomorrow (Thursday), I will be sitting on press row at Ohio State's Value City Arena watching 10 mats of high school wrestling. Why would any sane person want to watch this sort of thing, you might ask? Well, first of all, it's my job. Secondly, it's the Ohio State High School Wrestling Tournament, and quite frankly, there's no event like it on the high school level. This is like my personal coverage Super Bowl -- my biggest event of the year. It's usually my lone overnight road ... read moreWed, March 1, 2006 - 4:13 PM permalink - 1 comment

Last night, I did something I never thought I'd ever do -- I applied for a different job in my career. Those who know me know I'm not quick to accept change (I think my fiance could attest to that), and especially going to the rival paper of the one I currently work for used to be like blasphemy, according to me. But, as of 5:30 this morning, I dropped my resume and clips into the mailbox headed toward that rival paper. It's exciting, but scary. ... read more
