about me
I'm a certified co-active life coach who wears many "hats" in the work I do.

I continually weave the skill of co-active coaching through all my work -- listening, checking things out, staying connected, feeling the energy, probing, exploring together, acting as a sounding board. Clients appreciate being mirrored and "held" this way, and it supports them tapping into their inner wisdom. All my clients are naturally creative, resourceful, and whole (not broken, not in need of fixing).

I wear the "hat" of Self-Discovery Specialist when I take clients through a process to discover and truly *own* their best-fit type pattern. It's a highly structured way of exploring personality type, and people benefit greatly from learning these sophisticated frameworks. Five different models highlight various aspects of every person's psychology, and I'm trained and experienced in all of them. I typically use professional assessments as part of this process, but do not solely rely on those.

When I put my psychological type coaching hat on, I am listening through the "lens" of all these models to discern where a client is stuck in order to help them figure out how to navigate the issue using type understanding. I am non-directive in my approach, and assume clients have the necessary inner resources to create their own solutions.

I also wear a variety of hats when I perform relationship and systems coaching with couples, families, partnerships, work teams, organizations. This is not therapy! It's a method of promoting conscious, intentional relationship. (I may weave type understanding through this work when clients request it.)

Whenever the opportunity presents itself, I love to lead clients through an experience I call "Guided Active Imagination." It's a wonderful hat! Many people know C.G. Jung created a form of lucid dreaming and insight journaling he called "Active Imagination." It allowed him to contact and communicate directly with his unconscious. The difference with my approach is that I facilitate it as a live experience, making it easier and even more powerful than writing to oneself.

I particularly like to focus on people who worry that something may be "wrong" with them. It's my calling to put them in touch with all that is "right" with them.

I confess to having a soft spot for people who enjoy intuiting. I like to support them around consciously connecting to the power of their own intuition and using that gift to help unfold their unique life journey.

I relish working with all sorts of people, and recently have been gratified to coach young college students finding their way in the world. Perhaps I function as the guidance counselor they long for, supporting them unconditionally around what's best for them, and helping them make self-affirming choices as they move out in the world.

I thrive on my work, and especially appreciate working with spiritual warriors who seek greater enlightenment for themselves.

Please contact me for a collaborative interview if you are interested in working with me or learning more about my services. I work primarily over the phone, so there are no geographic barriers. (I must add that I wish I'd met somebody with my unique skills 30 years ago. What an impact it might have had on me!)

Re: Our mascot? (in INTJ Personalities) Well, David Keirsey assigned the Rational (Theorist) temperament with the Owl. And when you read up on the traits of owls, it eerily matches the temperament.... to the point of freaky.

He had originally assigned the griffin:

you really made me laugh. AND I don't agree with you about Andrea's not being INTJ. I don't know what type pattern she IS, but nothing in her message raises question marks for me about her pattern.

Re: Are any other INTJs obsessed with existentialism ? (in INTJ Personalities) That's so interesting -- it doesn't match what I think of as "existentialism" at all! (I already said my definition might be goofy.) From my perspective, there *is* something "impersonal and indifferent" about it. Like, it's hard to get anxious... read more

I confess I'm thrilled you're wondering. It's vitally important to keep an open mind after you undergo the "rite of initiation" that introduces you to type!

Re-sitting the assessment will not be helpful. According to its own manual t... read more

My Blog

There was big news in the assessment world this month! And I'm telling everybody.

CPP announced its release of MBTI®Complete, an online assessment package that allows anyone to take the instrument on their personal computer at their own pace (in their own time) without the aid of a professional facilitator!

MBTI®Complete contains artificial intelligence that interactively helps users identify their own best fit type code using automated verification. It is an official MBTI assessment... read more
