from the beach on the Net, telling us we live in troubled times
Beacon Rock -
Along the Columbia River Gorge, on the WA side, so named by Lewis and Clark (who first referred to it on the way down to the coast as BEATEN Rock). I had run out of "juice" in the camera, so resorted to the cellphone - this is the quality of photo from that source....Had a couple of good days earlier this week hanging out in the Gorge for work, and will return there next week for the same AND to attend the Bluegrass Festival at Goldendale, and the telescope party at the Observatory with a REAL LIVE astornaut on site to explain things, for FREE (while camping for free at the Klickitat County Fairgrounds). Doesn't get any better.. DOK Atomic with Campfire Cafe Tribes site turned me one to it - come out if you can.
Go West a bit to see Beacon Rock, worth the effort and the gas!
