my synaesthesia is on the fritz.
for once, everything isn't mixed up in a bewildering mess of colourful tastes and textured sounds.

my brain is a puddle of goooooo...

i've been painting all morning, and i'm not having flashbacks to the nervous breakdown which led to me dropping out of art school.
normally i can't even touch a paintbrush without having a panic attack.

<div>So how does the evening of Friday 25 July or Saturday 26 July sound?
Is that a reasonably okay weekend?
And is Friday or Saturday a better night to dress up in Monster costumes and possibly stilts and shamble around the city scaring old ladies and small children?

<div>So...What's everyone doing in mid-July?

I'm taking it upon myself to organise another silly march to add to Boston's collection, namely the Moonlight Monster Walk.
The basic premise is that everyone who attends will come dressed as either their favourite monster or some horrific creation of their own.
We will shamble about the city by moonlight (or, more likely, streetlight) on a Friday or Saturday night and terrorise whoever we happen to come across!

It'll be open to the public; I'll post advertisements for it all over the social internetwork and Craigslist like the Zombie March people do, and hopefully enough of a crowd will show up to make it really fun!

What do y'all think?</div>

Post-WildFire Withdrawal Syndrome kicking in...

<div>Three days gone by, and, in this gritty city of grey concrete and starless street-light nights, I'm already uncertain as to whether or not I dreamed it all up.
It wouldn't be humanly possible for me to coherently and cohesively express all of the reasons this WildFire made the impact it did on my existence, but I would like to give a shout-out to a few of those who had particularly special roles in my experience. In no particular order:

~Steven Johnson! Without your understanding that the work is an essential part of the fun, I would not have had anywhere near so good a time. Also, getting to talk to you for a change was absolutely splendid and ought to happen on a more regular basis. You. Completely. Rock!

~Betty Blaize: Pasties! Yay! You are such an inspiration, and an unfailing source of interesting conversation and unusual knowledge. I'm completely fascinated by Barata Natyam now, and am filled with excitement to make explorations in that particular realm of dance and expression.

~Rachel. You've given to me a love and fascination for fans and fan dancing, for which I am unspeakably grateful. You're also just plain fun to be around, and some of the best times I had over the weekend involved moping around with you and watching you dress up. I really, really wish you'd come back to Boston with us instead of going to silly ol' Baltimore.

~Justin: You know why.

~Elias. You probably don't know why.

~Sam the Stilting Madman: You. Ran around with The Battle-axe. On stilts. It might be love!

~Marissa: You, too, are an awe-inspiringly unending source of inspiration, and one of my favourite performers to watch. You also said three things to me which made me feel absolutely beautiful, which is not something that happens to me very often at all. Thank you.

~Rebecca: It was kind of amazing getting to watch someone else having their first WildFire, and realising how similar and how different it was to my first. And besides! You're completely adorable^.^ Come visit us in Boston?

Chris: Oh. God. The hand-puppets! No! Why? Yes! Ack! Possibly the creepiest thing I've ever seen at two in the morning...

Dervish Brad: You. Are such an astounding hooper. I learn ten new things or so every time I see you spin anything. And thank you for all the encouragement.

Kommandant Sonya: You already know. The marshmallows were a stroke of pure genius. Like I said in the story, it's for you, for everything.

There are a zillion more things I could say, to at least six or seven more people, but I am simply too tired to think of them right now. If you're reading this you probably contributed in some way to my extraordinary experience, so thank you and I hope I did the same for you.

<div>Riding home on the train this evening, I looked at the people seated around me and wondered why I didn't see anyone who looked odd or unusual or just plain scary. Where were the freaks? And then it hit me.
There I was, clad in a multi-coloured suede jacket, swinging a pair of fire fans and a borrowed hacksaw and humming Klezmatics tunes under my breath -
I was the freak, the creepy one, the odd one out.
I was the one getting the sidelong stares from my slightly unnerved fellow passengers.
How does that make me feel?
Well...
It makes me feel all warm and fuzzly inside. Really : )

On this afflicted prince, fall like a cloud
In gentle show'res, give nothing that is loud,
Or painful to his slumbers; easy, sweet,
And as a purlinge stream, thou son of night

Into this prince gently, oh gently slide,

Thank you, Messrs. Beaumont and Fletcher...I could never have said it half so well myself.

Having remained wide-eyed and sleepless all throughout last night due to night-terror induced paranoia, one feels a strong bond of empathy between poor Valentinian and one's own bone-weary self.

    </a>
<div>In the tradition of the uniquely immortal Sei Shonagon, Japanese scholar and lady of the Heian era, I present a list of things which force me to quote another great lady's well-known phrase: "We are not amused".

Bronchitis.
Missing spinjam due to the onset of the aforementioned bronchitis.
Being eighteen in a city where nearly everything amusing is twenty-one plus.
Bronchitis.
Paying bills with the cash stash one had set aside for the purchasing of hats and whips.
Roommates.
Baby houseplants which die unexpectedly after having put down roots and grown new leaves.
Parents who are simply never home when one phones, said parents growing angry because one never manages to reach them.
Bronchitis.
February in general.
Mouldy oranges in the bottom of one's fridge.

As one may be able to ascertain from this list...
I am EXCEEDINGLY grouchy today. Exceedingly.

<div>Spinjam tonight - ah, so lovely (as one comes to expect).
It was fantastic to see so many shiny hoopy people (yay! Laura Marie!!) filling up the space with glitter and happy...
Though several faces one might have hoped to see were absent (so sad!).
Brittany, Amanda, Andrew, Marria, JASON - I missed y'all!!!

I would like to offer special thanks to~
Gabriel, for flying and giggles;
Kat Kingsley (I do hope I'm spelling your name correctly^.~) for the whip lesson and the yay! New friend! awesomeness; and
JT, for the ride home and the compliments on my apparel (or at least aimed in that general direction;p).

&amp;lt;3 to everyone!

...and, thanks be to Sonya for the naming of the schpants.

<div>Speak to me of whips!
I have fallen in love and am filled with a desire to know them intimately.

Do I know someone who is skilled in this form of artistry?
I would love to speak with one who might inform me, particularly on the subject of fire whips and their wielding...

<div>Wanted:

A lovely and charming escort to accompany me to my school's winter formal on the 8th of February.
It's Hollywood-themed, so one must be prepared to dress as a film star(let) of some notability (or notoriety).
I'll accept whichever offer (if, of course, I get any) is the most amusing...
The catch?
I'm dressing as Chaplin, so whoever accompanies me will have to wear a dress.

Gentlemen (or ladies)?

What I love about spinjam...

<div>...Everything. Especially when the place is full of hoopers and I come home with bruises on the backs of my knees from learning new moves...And I see lovely folk I haven't set eyes on since Wildfire...And I get to indulge in one of my favourite activities, namely that of staring wide-eyed at the lovely and talented Ammon EP and Marria Grace while they do things with hoops that would never have occurred to me as possibilities...Spinjam is the high point of my week.

<div>And this, dear friends, is what my most excellent father gave me for Christmas - the shop time, materials, and assistance needed to build a splendid sectional fire hoop, designed by yours truly and finished just in time to illuminate tonight's festivities.
