My first time dancing at the Gypsy Caravan stage, was nothing less than magical! What a wonderful stage, musicians, dancers, audience. My biggest thrill was having Aziza in the audience cheering me on and enjoying my dancing! Also, my hubby was so proud, he's been going to the fair for about 15 years now, and to see his wife up on the stage was a great moment for us both. I hope to be there again, and again, and again!

OMG, so I just found out that I have been invited to dance at the magical Oregon Country Fair stage! Truly excited and I can't wait! Friday night between 5-7. LIve music and fabulous dancers. Hubby is too excited, he's been going to the fair since, forever, and we both enjoy going there.

My trip to Rakkasah West was a whirlwind one day event. Drove into Vallejo Saturday morning from my brother's place outside Sacramento, and got lucky and was able to park in the vendor's area. Walked into the West building and immediately saw familiar faces of my friends from WA and OR. We definitely represented well! Wandered around and tried on stuff and looked at alot of things while trying to catch some dancing on the stage. I didn't like how the stage was set up in the west building, ins...

I first met Jewels at "Treasures of the Middle East" competition, May 2006. I was way out of my league dancing in the pro category, and she was absolutely the kindest, sweetest person I met as I "sweat bullets" back stage. Jewels is an amazing dancer and an amazing person. She is genuinely a wonderful person as well as such a joy to watch perform. Thank you Jewels, for being such a pleasure to know.

I am a huge fan of Jewels, and was so even before I ever met her. For the past year I have been following her career as a dancer after seeing her Wiggles performance on youtube. She shows style and grace in her movement and is always, always the example of class and elegance. In Jewels, I see a true Middle Eastern dancer that is faithful to the Egyptian roots of the dance. That is a refreshing change.
In November 2007, I had the wonderful opportunity to see Jewels perform live in the NVBD Competition. I was impressed with her calm appearance on stage. She looked as if she were dancing for a few good friends instead of a panel of judges. Jewels gave a beautiful performance that also demostrated her strong technique. After the show, I was a little nervous to meet Jewels in person. I thought either of two things would happen: 1) she would think me a stalker and call for security, or 2) she would not be as nice in person as her stage persona and I would be very disappointed. Thankfully, neither of those two things came to fruition and I enjoyed meeting this gracious dancer. She was truly appreciative of the scores given to her by the judges and showed real class. I remain a true supporter of Jewels and look forward to seeing her perform at Rakkasah West in 2008 with Djinn. as Jewels continues to grow as a dancer, I know we will see a lot more of this talented woman. Jewels is one of my very favorite dancers. She expresses the music exquisitely when she dances, her veil work is very fluid and smooth and her choo-choos are... well, how do you describe choo-choos? Energetic!
She does a good jb of connecting with the audience and oh those eyes! When she looks at you those eyes just reach in and touch the soul. I always love to play for her. She is one of the best dancers I've played drum solos for, she can keep up and always seems to find the accents! I am so joyful that she is my friend.
