about me
I stand by my premise that life is too damned short for cheap booze, bad sex, crappy relationships, and most of what passes for television and entertainment in this country. I get on better with men than with women in the friends department although I have some of the most amazingly kick-ass women friends this side of anywhere. I am highly introverted and am exhausted by most people, even the handful that I genuinely like. I am an enigma wrapped in a plain brown wrapper. I stay home a lot and listen to very loud music and cook and drink and garden like mad and work on cars and hang out with cats when I am not working or studying Chinese Medicine. I married a god among men in 2004, and whatever crap life throws at me there is a solid core of happiness underpinning it all thanks in the largest part to him. We are playfully polyamorous, but on our own damned terms.

I have some piercings and a few good tattoos, and have a range of hair color that usually lands somewhere in the reds. I've got more than a few scars, the majority of which were not accidental. I used to do a good bit of figure modeling for friends and for classes, but that's rare anymore. My artistic passions of working wax and pouring molten metal into sculpture are really just twisted aspects of my sexuality. I love the smell of used motor oil and just the right kind of sweat and I have a collection of plain white t-shirts and a-shirts that is entirely too large and entirely too worn.

For one man's take on the Tough Chick identity, click here: www.coldfury.com/TC.html. At some point I should write an addendum to this that breaks tough chicks down into subcategories. I am a tough chick primarily of the Handy / Toolbelt variety; we carry knives, too (and in my case usually plural), but first and foremost because they are handy as hell for everything from scraping out bee stings and splinters to handling gift wrapping emergencies. We can differentiate between the many different types of pliers and can frequently eyeball the size of hex-head socket needed to remove a bolt -- in standard or metric. Need a jump? We probably have cables in our vehicle, and some spare fuses and a fuse-puller and, duh, a tire pressure gauge or three. And a real man for us, assuming we're into them, isn't more macho or tough than we are; he is handy and helpful and polite, but he is probably at his most endearing to us when he realizes without being told that it's time to get the fuck out of our way and does it gracefully, possibly while cheerleading our efforts. Dig it.

and now a few words from my sponsors...

November 28, 2007
tank is extraordinarily smart, loyal and loving. She's a tough chick, a Kitchen Witch, a full-power service switch with healing hands... I've met few people as honest, as honorable, as perceptive, or, I admit, as hot! I'm honored to be her friend.

Is it possible for a roaring fire to be as cute as a button and cozy as a kitten?
Apparently.
But she also crackles, don't you forget.
Toaster and all.

There it was: an oasis of shady hammocks
on the parched, hungry, dizzyingly hot playa
and there she was, with her ice, cold, perfect, perfect, gazpacho.
ahhhhh....sweet, cool relief. Home. Like her kitchen.
Of course, it also set my mouth on fire.
And I liked that.
