An uplifting, inspiring new CD of devotional songs and chants

Inspirational music is the website of Subway Bhaktis, Rachel Zinman and Nyck Jeanes. Sita Ram is their first album of devotional songs and mantra chants. On this site you can listen to music samples, find out more about Rachel and Nyck and Subway Bhaktis, and order the CD.
Rachel and Nyck lead Kirtans in Australia, the USA, Germany, Switzerland and Japan. Kirtan is the traditional form of devotional singing practiced in India and in ashrams and yoga studios around the world. This album is a magnificently produced compilation of some of their chants, featuring wonderful musicianship and beautiful harmonies and rhythms.
Devotional song, inspirational poems, healing, massage and relaxation music and chant are all elements of one of the fastest growing genres of music in the world.

About us

about me
Rachel Zinman and Nyck Jeanes are the Subway bhaktis- devotional chanting artists who have just released their firts CD "Sita Ram

Rachel and I have been married for 14 years and we now live in Byron Bay, Australia with our 13 year old son. From the time we first met we have written music together; songs, soundtracks and other material.
After living in New York from 2000-2004 and through Rachel’s experiences teaching yoga there, we discovered chanting and began to create our own chants and devotional songs.
Sita Ram is the result of this collaboration. Sita and Ram are the lovers in the grand story of The Ramayana, and in a way we aspire to be that – lovers, great friends and spiritual partners.
Music is a major part of the soul of our relationship and is one of the strongest aspects of our bond together. We hope you enjoy the fruits of our union!

Rachel Zinman
Rachel is a professional dancer, choreographer, award-winning musician and published poet. She was born into a musical family. Her father David Zinman is a Grammy award winning symphony conductor.
Rachel has practiced yoga for 20 years and taught for 15. In Australia she trained in both the Iyengar and Astanga methods, teaching yoga at the Northern Rivers Conservatorium in New South Wales, where she was Head of Dance. She also co-created and produced a popular Australian Yoga Video series and a Kid's Yoga Video.
Rachel met ISHTA yoga founder Alan Finger in New York City in 2000 and taught at his studio, Be Yoga for four years. While there she was the co-creator, coordinator and one of the facilitators and mentors in the Be Yoga Teacher Training Program and as part of that program began to learn and understand the power of mantra chanting.
Rachel returned to Australia in September 2004 and is currently facilitating workshops, retreats and trainings in The ISHTA System in Sydney, Byron Bay, Brisbane, Sunshine Coast, Japan, Switzerland, Italy, Germany and New York.

Nyck Jeanes
Nyck is a radio broadcaster on Bay FM radio in Byron Bay and Magazine editor and publisher of Be Magazine in Byron. He has also been a musician and songwriter all his life. Nyck has been an actor, café proprietor, writer, journalist, and poet too. As a musician Nyck wrote documentary soundtracks for ABC Australia and Channel 4 in Britain, and as a performer in duos, bands and theatre work through many years.
Chanting came into Nyck ’s life through partner Rachel while they lived in New York. At home Nyck took some of the mantras and ideas Rachel brought home and together they created musical pieces which have resulted in this album.
With Rachel he conducts Kirtans in Byron Bay, Brisbane, Sunshine Coast, Japan, Switzerland, Germany and New York
