Kantian ethics proclaim an objective moral imperative that is a-priori or rationally deduced. To lie in any case would be morally wrong because , if every one told lies all of the time, then language and communication would fall apart. So In Kant's opinion one should never tell a lie. Existentialists and moral relativists, on the other hand, state that there is no objectively certain moral standard epistemically speaking. So it is not wrong to lie and tell the Nazi at your door that you are not harboring any Jews. Do you know what side of the fence you fall on?
