I started learning this beautiful dance over 20 years ago, studying and performing with Josetta. We learned folkloric and cabaret styles and did dozens of performances at fairs, the museum, store openings and private parties. I've since taken workshops with and been inspired by many wonderful, nationally famous dancers, including Shireen el Safi, Eve Cernik, Jaleh, Morocco, Hadia, Delilah, Suzanna del Vecchio, Mesmera, Aradia, Artemis and others. I love traditional dance best, including playing zils, and am inspired to work even harder on them by Artemis. And I am inspired by my many wonderful dance buddies and colleagues in our fabulous local community of dancers. I sew many of my own costumes, and I guess I never outgrew playing dress-up.
