I was think last night about my upcoming class, about music and about dance in general. I decided to write this to clarify so points to myself before teaching them. As I am some what of a phillosopher in regards to my life and what I do, I was thinking about the importance of negative space. Its a term used quite a bit in art. It is also a term that can be use to apply to pauses between phrases of music. I find that this negative space is often under used and appreciated by dancers, espe...

I just completed my frst semester as the belly dance teacher for the local community college. Agreeing to teach was one of the most frightening thhings I have ever done. I wasn't sure I knew enough to teach and keep people intrested for 8 weeks. Now looking back, there was so much more I wanted to touch upon but didn't get to. I haven't gotten to post in quite a while. I only have net access at work. Yes, I now have a day job as a corporate secretary. Its a job, that is about all I can say. If anyone out there has advise on how to survive living with a teenager I would welcome it! I received my phone bill today. My teenage daughter has run up a long distance bill for over $100 calling Canada. I have talked and talked to her about making long distance calls. She doesn't seem to see that this put her dad and I in a real bind. We have a stringent budget we set to live on. She has more than doubled the amount we had alloted for that bill. We can't seem to make her realize tha...

I was kind of down last night. The Port Belly Project has been asked to dance for Desdemona's Holiday Hafla. I was really looking forward to going. Then a snow storm hit Denver snowing in my husbands boss and, as a result, his pay. My over night baby sitters backed out as well so the Texas trip has become a total no go. I had just sent our troupe leader an e-mail backing out of this one when another friend called. She wants me to dance with her at a Mardi Gras in town that same weekend...
