My Blog

Of course, it always bugs me when people do this, but now I'm starting to understand.... maintaining more than one blog would be too dull. So I'm staying at xanga and inviting you there for the occasional wander.

~words~

To the Soon-Lost Friend:
The capriciousness of how I feel should not
Detract from all the fervor I now feel,
And, while I shudder at this seeming blot
Upon my life your leaving does reveal,
I know I will recover by tomorrow;
Until then, let me feel a little sorrow.

On the Need for Equilibrium:
While moving on in life, my friend, we find
That comfort is most easily achieved
And doubts allayed and clinging fears relieved
When you and I refuse to act in kind
But rather flee our self-consumed anxiety
By overcoming wrongly placed propriety.

To Odysseus:
I like to be with people and I like
To be alone. And sometimes I need friends
Around, and sometimes must be on my own,
To muse on life in silence. It depends
On how I feel, of course, and though I do
Delight in dearly treasured friends and joy
In moments spent with them, 'tis also true
That excess, even of good things, must cloy.
Sweet friends, I love my time with them and, yes,
My time alone as well. But now I find
"Alone," has changed; that quite loveliness
Is not when thoughts are lone but intertwined.
In changing shades of silence, this is true:
The quiet loses beauty save with you.
