While on a brief lecture tour of Europe, I happened upon a small coffee shop called 'The Blue Doctor', where as it happened, an enigmatic man known as Mr Swish was reading an insightful collection of neo-metaphysical tales from a leather-bound note book, accompanied by a young woman playing a harmonium.
I found myself drawn to the surprisingly delicate tone's of this towering poet-magus, and the deeply undulating drones of the harmonium. After the performance, we drank coffee and sampled a local sea-urchin dish [the poor creatures boiled within an inch of their life and served while still alive - an experience that has haunted me to this day]. Many years later I would again meet this man, who, like myself, seemed to be posing as an ordinary member of the public. Mr Swish has travelled far, and yet he remains to this day unwilling to speak of his pilgrimage through the backwaters of Europe and the East. A humble magus, if you will...
