my raw food journey, pt 3

<div>the beginning of june marked the beginning of my fourth month of raw food lifestyle. my life has changed drastically, whether it be from what i am taking in to my body, or simply from integrating and maintaining healthy habits, either way life is flourishing, flowering, it is beautiful to bear witness to and i truly believe that raw foods are to thank for this. i have read that raw food naturally aligns you with a higher vibration, and thus that it aligns you more with your "Higher Self." About two months into the transition I observed myself beginning to seek a spiritual path again, beginning to take interest again in striving for personal growth and emotional/mental health. I never connected at the time that raw foods might have something to do with these changes, but now I greatly attribute the raw food path to putting me back on my healing path again.... and I have heard other raw foodists make this claim as well. My moods have most drastically shifted, even more than the 20 lbs. of weight that have come off in the last three months. I have a more severe case of bi-polar disorder, and managing my moods has been difficult my entire life. If I'm not swinging manic I am buried deep in depression, it seems. Since starting the raw food path I have observed that my moods stay level, I am experiencing more of a high and have not delved into the depressions any longer. Not to say that I won't in the future, but this is another change that I attribute to the raw food. Customers at work (I work in a health food store) continuously remark on how beautiful my skin is and that they can see a reflection of my internal health through my complexion, which has also improved drastically. My hair has grown maybe two or three inches since making the raw transition. And, as I said, I have lost 20 lbs. My body appreciates its new diet so much that it is converting more of its food into pure energy, utilizing the nutrients I am feeding it, my metabolism has increased, and my energy level has steadily increased as well. I thank raw food for all of this, and it is a path I shall continue to follow for as long as my body permits it. </div>

my raw foods journey, end of week 2

<div>here begins my third week of 100 percent raw lifestyle. i am enjoying decadent fruits and crunching on hearty veggies... had my first raw potluck last weekend to mark the start of my journey... and though only a few faces showed the food was excellent and it was a great introduction to this new transition. have still been having cravings....especially when my roommate munches on you-bake-em pizzas, fast food, fried food, and brings it all into our home. i feel as though im detoxifying from years worth of taking my body for granted and not nourishing it well. that would explain why im having such harsh cravings for foods that i havent even touched in years. but i have successfully been able to resist.... for example when my roommate and her boyfriend brought home chinese last night, i prepared myself some spicy kim chi and miso soup with nori. craving conquered.

i know that in order to see and feel extraordinary differences from this change in lifestyle, it will take a long time of daily devotion. but i am already seeing and feeling slight differences - my hair is growing, and its gotten thicker...my skin is brighter, healthier, and clearer... i am slimmer, even more so since last week....and my digestion has improved 100%!! (digestive problems were my reason for going raw in the first place.) ive also noticed that little scratches and cuts are healing more rapidly.
      so im already singing the praises of raw foods and their healing power. i believe that raw foods can sustain me and heal my small ailments...help me to maintain healthy body and mind... nourish my spirit with whole living foods... and bring me longevity from their nutrient density, plethora of enzymes, hearty fibers, water content...and etc!

will keep yall updated.

blessings!

    </a>
										<div>exactly one week ago today i decided to make the transition to a 100% raw foods lifestyle. today marks the end of the first week of this journey, but also the very beginning of a lifetime of vibrant health through living and raw foods. thankfully i have so many resources accessible to me - working at a health food store, and working with 3 raw fooders....our store's selection caters to raw foodists and our produce selection is beautiful and often boasts many rare organic fruits and veggies. my upstairs neighbors are both 100% raw, and there is a great raw community in sacramento that gathers for weekly potlucks...and a new raw restaurant is opening in folsom....there they feature weekly raw dinners and gatherings as well as classes and workshops. i have several books on the transition onto raw foods, and i am also able to check out any books from our book selection at the health food store....where we feature at least ten books that i have yet to pick up on going raw. in other words, i have a lot of support and many resources that will guide me through this transition.

after only seven days of 100% raw diet, the differences are apparent both internally and externally. my long-time digestive upsets are healing, i have an abundance of energy, because i am assimilating more nutrients from my food i find myself eating smaller amounts throughout the day, my hair seems thicker and shinier, my skin has cleared up, i am slimming down, and even my respiratory passages seem to be clearer. there have been some harsh side effects as well - for the first few days diarrhea, headaches, toxins coming through the skin, and massive cravings for horrible foods that i never even touched before the transition - (fast food, meat, sugar, sugar, SUGAR, refined carbohydrates, etc.) the cravings are still there and are incredibly hard to deal with, but sitting down to an amazing platter of raw fruit or veggies is so much more satiating than any of those other foods ever could be.

so here starts my raw foods journey..... one I hope to continue on for the rest of my days. </div>
