<div>The bindi, which is traditionally being used by Indian Women for applying it to their forehead, between the eyebrows, has been converted into a fashion statement all around the world. No longer is the bindi used by Indian women only. It is now being used by women all across the globe, and in some cases by men who use their creative ideas to make a temporary stick-on tattoo from the various designs available.

As a tradition, bindis are applied by Indian women and they are an important part of make-up when she is wearing a sari / saree, salwar kameez or other Indian dresses. The red or maroon round shaped bindi was popular in the older days. As times changed, not only the uses of bindis changed, the shapes also changed. Now the bindis are being put to various uses by people all over the world. Fashion concious women use it as a tattoo, belly dancers use it as a body decoration, arm-band bindis, eye bindis, peer bindis are in vogue during theme parties, costume parties, discos, etc.

What started as a dot on the forehead has been converted into a multi-design, multi-color stick-on fashion tattoo used by everyone - even celebrities like Maddona, who used it in one of her appearences. Among the latest additions to bindi fashion is belly button bindis. It is a decorative ring of various colors, the most popular being silver and golden, for sticking around the navel. Another addition is nail bindi, a beauty decoration for hands.

The bridal bindi kit contains exclusive stuff. Apart from being decorated with diamond like stones, these bindis are made to match the bridal dress. Other bindis like peer bindis for applying above eyebrows, hair bindis and long maang tikkas are included. In the future it will not be uncommon for tattoo shops and belly dance centres to stock bindis. Along with henna designers we can also have bindi tattoo designers. It will also not be unusual to use bindis for gift decoration. Now you know where to source the exotic decorative stuff for decorating gifts during Christmas.
