Buy your dog doggie shoes for walks on pavement. It is too hot when you cannot place the back of your hand comfortably on the pavement for several minutes. Their paw skin is thin and once blistered, cut, bleeding or oozing it can take up to 3-4 weeks to heal.

Hot Summertime Tip #1:
Do not leave a precious pet in the car in ANY heat; not even for a few minutes! The temperature in a car can increase up to 30 degrees per minute a car. This can easily lead to death. Temperatures can rise even on mild days. For example, “if the outside temperature is 72°F, the interior can increase 40°F in the first hour and 80% of that is in the first 30 minutes.” (Humane Society of the Unites States.)
