I am quickly becoming a poster child for Akashawear! You can't beat pants, hip drapes, etc. that are tailored just for you. Like second skin! Akasha is also a great collaborator for performances, workshops, shows - just about anything. Oh, and she's an awesome friend and the best "big sister" you could ask for :)

Akasha was very professional and yet down to earth when I ordered my pants. Being a dancer made her very aware of my needs and concerns when ordering my pants. I can't wait to see them when they're finished! Thanks Akasha!

Akasha was awesome at working with my tight deadline (like a week!) and flexible with the pants I needed/wanted. She was quick and efficient...and a great person to deal with. Her passion for the dance makes her a great costumer; she understands the importance that the costume also helps in setting the mood and adding to the performance. I say if you have ANY costuming needs, she's the gal to call!!!

I LOVE my DanZ PantZ!
My first pair were bought already pre-made. When you're a plus sized gal like me, you get a little nervous that pre-made stuff like costumes just won't fit quite right. But these were SOOO comfy and SOOO easy to move in that I just had to have them! I could not believe how stretchy they were and how well they fit me as a result! Now I am so excited that she is making me another pair, customized JUST FOR ME!!
As a person, she's just super and a great friend. As an artist, she is very talented, with a keen eye for fun and flair. When conducting business she is professional and so easy to work with.
So what's not to love? She's a cool, talented lady, artistic, fun and has a passion for the DanZ PantZ - custom designed and sewn pants JUST FOR YOU too!!! Help support this talented, burgeoning business woman - get your DanZ PantZ today!!

My Akashawear line is now expanding into the Steampunk, Burlesque, Vaudeville, Gothic world. Though my website still reflects only Tribal Fusion custom costuming, I have an Etsy sight up with some of my ready-to-wear stuff now.
The new line will have Bloomers, Bustles, Fitted Vests, Mini Hats, Collars, Gloves and a few other surprises! The Akashawear site will have a ready-to-wear page with these items, in addition to a custom-made page by the end of November. But for now, please take a...

Anyone know where I can get some of this? Local fabric stores don't carry it. It's regular elastic, with "threads" of elastic through it on one side. (nice for non-slippage)

about me
I am a self employed clothing and costume designer and seamstress. I was able to quit the rat race in the fall of '06 to dedicate all my time to making fabric creations and dancing. I started sewing Renaissance costumes for my husband and myself in '01. Since then I've ventured into many other areas...Victorian wedding dress, bellydance costumes (tribal, folkloric, and cabaret), and "every day" clothes. I've been interested in bellydancing for a long time, but only took up the art 5 years ago. I've taken classes at Jawaahir and Ammala Middle Eastern Dance, starting out in traditional oriental classes, but quickly realized my true passion - Tribal/Fusion style bellydance. I'm learning more about it all...American Tribal, Tribal Fusion, Gothic style and many other dance style outside of bellydance. The Afsana Sisters is my bellydance troupe, a collective of fantastic women. LuuLuu, Nilat, Sabine, and Iscah are all part of the sisterhood. (Verthandi & Noya will always be honorary sisters, but have left the country and pursued other interests) Afsana means to "story" or "fable", and we like our performances to tell a story, even if we only understand it. ;-) I also collaborate with other talented dancers, infusing fresh ideas and cool choreography into performances.
I am passionate about animals - the treatment of them, what wonderful influences they are, NOT eating them. I've always been involved in animal causes and non-profits benefiting animals. Some of you were able to attend our fabulous bellydance animal fundraiser, "For the Love of Bunnies and Cats and Dogs..." - we hope to do more in the future.
The older I get, the wiser I become - realizing the effect I have on the world; people, animals, & planet. I try my best to do what I can, and lead by example. My life is blessed with many wonderful friends that have become family to me. I feel very lucky and loved, and I like to perpetuate that sentiment with others.
