about me
I've been dancing since September 5, 2001. The first class I went to had almost 30 women. The following week, September 12, there were 5 of us and that included the teacher and her assistant.
I have been taking a class a week from various teachers ever since. I love belly dance and how limber and strong it makes me feel. I teach a beginner class myself and that has taught me so much about myself! I love being comfortable in my skin. It makes everything so much easier.

For the love of a shimmy...

I found belly dance the week before 9/11. It has made me comfortable in my own skin. It is so freeing and fun to dance and gain new skills. I have made dear friends and done my best to teach people that belly dance is not just about the topless waif dancing in front of the sultan with her 7 veils.

My Testimonials

Anajahela always has chocolate. The good, gourmet stuff, too, not just Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. (Although she keeps those too.)

She's also a brilliant choregrapher, and excellent teacher, and a kick-ass seamstress.

And have you tried her chocolate cake? Truly orgasmic.

I have never had a friend more ready, willing and able to help out in any situation. Angela knows how or can figure out how to do ANYTHING! She's such a supportive person it still surprises me sometimes.
Angela is also a wonderful dancer and I've enjoyed performing with her many times. She teaches me something new every time she dances. Because of her I've learned to love the sparkle and been able to have more fun with everything I do. Who could ask for a better friend?

That and she's the only natural blonde I know over the age of 10.

She's blonde-a natural, a great chef-a natural, a graceful dancer- a natural and a smart ass-a natural.
Can it get much better than that?
eh, I don't think so. :)
Naturally- she's a pretty nifty lady.

I've known Angela for years (3) and have loved to watch her grow as a human-being and as a dancer. Her dance style is clean and lovely. She has a huge heart, especially for the furry four legged types. Her students always look happy to be on stage and performing. She's a talented seamstress as well as a great cook. Not to mention she has great taste in music. :)

Yes, I'm still eating...

So after 4 months on Nutrisystem, I have lost 20.2 pounds. The system works! Who knew? So now I bike to work and the store and I just joined the UNT Rec center for the summer so I can get my tubby butt to the pool and perhaps an aerobics class. WOO!

I'm sure I would have lost more weight but I am a total sweet-sneak. Much like the Cookie-Stealing Bunny of Doom, I wait until no one is around and then I swipe a Cranberry Chocolate Chip Oatmeal cookie and snuffle off to my corner to ruin... read more

I am currently taking classes with a fabulous woman who teaches out of her home here in Denton, Rory Williams. She is a 50-something firecracker of Greek and Lebanese descent. She owns two locations of Curves, has been dancing for over 25 years, and each Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 pm she hands me my ass!

I am so out of shape it makes me want to weep.

My hubby and I started Nutrisystem this week and so far so good. While it will be nice to lose some weight, I really just want to be ab... read more

So I was hired to perform at my first ever birthday party last weekend. The hostess was polite and cordial, the DJ was tolerable, and the guests were a hoot! Overall a very positive experience... with one small exception.

As I entered the room to begin dancing, I had both my face and costume concealed with veils. I handed the tip of my head veil to the guest of honor and had him hold it as I spun out of the veil to begin dancing in earnest. I was attempting to be mysterious. I'm not s... read more

Okay, I don't know what the deal is but this week is all starch, all the time. Croissants from Ravelin, homemade french bread, ramen noodles, you name it, I'm eating it. Work isn't stressful. Too boring right now to be stressful. The summer is flying by and it is too hot to exercise. So for some reason I have decided to eat bread.

Very productive, I know. Just Fabulous has been invited to so many really neat performances. Maybe I am stressing about those and just don't know it.
