Living and dying

This link was just e-mailed to me:

http://video.stumbleupon.com/?s=ithct48cqw&i=ufcchmyxqsuj9vwsemax

At first I thought it was going to be just another generic motivational message like so many others out there, but I gave it a whirl. Perhaps it's the pregnancy hormones running rampant in my system, perhaps it's the specter of impending parenthood looming over me, but this touched me.

Ever since I found my husband, I've dealt with the fear of losing him. Not fear like it used to be in previous lesser relationships, where I worried that he'd cheat on me or dump me. No, this is the fear of losing his LIFE. When we got married that fear ratcheted up a little, now that I'm pregnant, it's ratcheted up even more. My poor husband must think I'm a little crazy when I tell him out of the blue, "Don't die, OK?" I try not to do that too often...

I'm not scared of dying myself. But the thought of losing my most loved one terrifies me. So watching this video was a nice reminder about some simple truths we can embrace to make the days we do have really count.

Love. Humility. Respect. Humor.

I'm going to work on that.

And here's a link to the full lecture, more than a hour long: http://youtube.com/watch?v=ji5_MqicxSo. I'm going to bet it's worth the time.
