inspiring moment

... a year and a half ago (more or less), i was at the dressing room of the tribal category of the BDUC 2007... i was very nervous, watching seven pretty girls getting dress and warming up... i felt so small and insignificant, so insecure of my semi choreo performance... my unexperienced dance, my first time in a competition, and it was a BIG one, I started to wonder why am I here? how did I dare to come? and i was LATE, so little time to dress up... so the sweepstake was done, i was going second, right after heather shoopman... can it get any harder? a lady come for the 2 of us... we walked through a long corridor, "i forgot to put on some lipstick" i said, Heather offered me a kiss, i refused, shame on me!! lol... we were now behind a door that lead to the stage, she started stretching i knew i was going to lose, it was her turn, i wasn't allowed to see... now my turn... i danced, my feet got stucked in the stage floor... i finished, and left the stage as soon as I can, almost running... I saw the other contestants, Sooz was there too (yes it got harder)... when we all finished, people were asked to vote for "people's choice", and there was this guy, very nice, from puerto rico, he was the father of a little girl, that won her category (and believe me she was the greatest bellydancer i've seen my whole life, of ANY AGE, im sorry Saida and Ansuya, but she was unbelievable, perfect moves, perfect technique) so this girl's dad turn to me and say : "Excuse me what is your name?", I told him, and he voted for me... I felt so honored and happy... of course I lost... but if I touched just one soul besides mine, out of a thousand, that's enough for me, someone else enojoyed my dance, now my day was complete, it was all worth it, the experience of being there, and that special moment, was two of the most inspiring things I have ever lived... my nerves went away at that second... and I would never forget him and his daughter... so I'm still here, dancing for just one soul if necessary... that soul is myself... I love what i do so much... and if someone likes it too that is a plus that I appreciate with all my heart... I dont even have a picture of that day... but that memory will remain as long as im standing here

Tianguis Cultural Slowdown 2008

Again, this july 27th, i performed on the tianguis cultural at the slowdown cafe at mexicali, i love to dance there, because of the ambiance and the good vibes generated at that place. The only thing that can get me nervous before a performance is the fact that people won't like it, but here most people seem to dig it very well, and a lot of 'em seem to enjoy it! My boyfriend of course was delighted, hehe, and my friends too! Im very thankful to rene, the organizer of this event, for accept me the first time, and invited me this second time, i hope he dont get tired of me and keep on asking me to dance. I already uploaded some pictures here on tribe, and the video on youtube if you want to check. This was, again, a lovely experience that i would love to repeat. Thanks to everyone who supported me, and sent me your positive energy. Love always Alejandra
