so, it seems that this year's Frameline lineup is markedly lacking in films featuring bisexual characters or themes (like maybe there's ONE). has anyone perused the catalog?
a friend forwarded me the below message in petition form, and i'm very likely going to mail it in. it almost brushes against a pet peeve tha ti have about folks with a sense of entitlement making demands upon an institution that has no inherent obligations to them. but in fact, i like the way that this message is...

my dad's been trying for years to convince me to buy a house, even if it means buying out in the 'burbs. not terribly shocking, after all he's lived in the burbs happily for 30 years or so.
every so often i start to think that maybe he's right, and that it would be a wise move to find myself a little shack in the east bay that i could call my own.
then i have nights like last night.... ;-)
started at Andalu with a dinner meeting of the Board of a non-profit that i'm on. After that...

dude, WTF?
i've tried "tribe as cruisin' territory", i've tried "tribe as intellectual coffee house", i've even tried "tribe as personal playground". so what is it now? i'm not sure. this is the cleaner, safer tribe, right? kind of edging towards Times Square post-Guiliani, all disney-fied and shit, but with a few dirty theaters still lingering on the fringes. many tribes have definitely lost a certain energy and some have exhausted their raison d'etre (there are only so many things ...

about me
Who The Fuck Are You Anyway? ... it seemed to say.
i'm a Hippie damnit, but i don't spend *all* my time in tie-dyes, smoking and dredding my hair. actually, i don't think i own any tie dyes, and i think if your hair doesn't dred by itself, it's kind of disingenuous to force it... but i'm big on Peace and Love and being aware of the Energy of the Moment, riding it like a coaster and all that. Social Responsibility; being the change that i want to see in the world - those are high on my list.
i'm a Yogi In Training, and a Burner, and a Jack of All Trades, and a seamstress, and I was a sushi chef briefly. I've been a computer geek and a cat herder but i like sunlight and people too much to spend all my time locked in a room in the basement coding up the next Killer App.
And by the time you read this, i'll probably have become a few more things ;-)

"it's all about the TV"
the last time i was at Dr. Keck's office (which is probably a year or two), he had a small TV set up on a high shelf, complete with VHS tapes of old TV shows so that you could watch 'em while he was working! so cool :)

Alex JB is one awesome guy. He's infectious like a hearty laugh: ya know the ones that come from deep within and bring tears to your eyes. He's intelligent, courteous, and not to mention handsome. I forgive him for leaving "The City" behind and claiming another as his home.
If you don't know him, you should. Say hi, he won't bite. [And] if you rub the 'big cat' the right way, he might even purr.

Alex is a pain in my ass, but what good friend isnt. Need to go visit him so he can stop guilting me. Love him like a brother. (still a pain in my ass though)
