Dance Journal

Last night Bassnectar and Beats Antique played in Charleston! And the lovely Zoe Jakes was there too! First rate AWESOME, people! I was so inspired to see bellydance in that type of context! I'm also realizing that the bar is set pretty high in terms of athleticism and the level of dedication I need to have to pull this off. A leetil bellydancing hiatus is occurring. I have the opportunity to go excavate at an anglo saxon monastery south of Canterbury this summer, so I am out of here in a couple weeks. I am also in the process of moving house (by myself for the most part since most of my friends here are either dealing with moving house themselves or more the arms length sort of friends) -- so things are not too conducive to me actually paying attention to any kind of bellydance related thing. well I just thought of this in the middle of everything, that I have been reinspired by british folk music of the 60's and 70's. I grew up with it as my dad played the guitar and was a fan of Sandy Denny and John Renbourn, etc. In particular I rediscovered the track called Sidi Brahim on the album Enchanted Garden.
