Practice makes somethin'... what was that again?
Clockwise omis are happier now. As are down to up belly rolls - in fact I think I like them better than up to down now! (jawfloor).Been working off and on ... on...
Up to down belly rolls one one side, then the other
Omis with maya (made that actually happen clockwise last night)
Glute 7s when it's too fast to do singles haha
rib cage accents - lift is still pokey and feeble
rib cage slides - lift ain't nothing on slide in teh scuk department
sidewinder w/ hip, rib cage and head locks
omis with alternating rib cage circles, can do these comfortably in all imagineable directions now (!)
I assume the glute drill with rib cage slide/lift/slide/lift will look nicer once the slides cooperate...
Somewhere along the line my clamp shimmy got good...
Looking for new challenges...
WTF mate?
TMI and rant etc warning. On top of some other stupid issues, I see these comments today relating to unshaved female body hair.
"gorilla" ..."if you can see a woman's armpit hair when she lifts her arms, that's pretty gross" "Completely unacceptable in the civilized world" "it's not clean or feminine"
Yes, because apparently being "feminine" means subjecting yourself to society's whims and illogical stigmas. It's sexism, PERIOD, which is far more disgusting than anything else to me. As for hair on legs, armpits, crotch or anywhere else, what on earth kind of sense does it make to say it's not "clean"? Our hair grows where it does in order to protect us. Hair is not clean or unclean. Do you bathe? Hey look, you're clean! If you wash, you're clean. If you shave, I bloody well hope you're doing it because YOU want to (for instance, you wear hosiery for your dress code and leg hair makes it itchy, or, when you have your period, it's more comfortable for you to trim a bit to make things easier on yourself. Or WHATEVER. If you've got a reason that's YOURS, great! Shave! Don't shave! I don't give a flying f. But please for the sake of humanity, don't buy into stupid stereotypes, sexism, and illogical arguments that are simply used to degrade people/sell products.

Thank you very much. Carry on with your business, citizen.
Trying to figure it out
Ok, so the past month or so, I haven't had enough time to practice on my own. I mean, I've done my drills here and there, even done some good work at the gym, but I haven't just been able to take an hour to dance. I'm either exhausted from my stupid 7am wake up calls (not going to teach English classes anymore after next week) or I'm just going from job to job and literally don't have a chance.I think this is the reason both of my solos at SH felt off. I didn't feel very good about either one. I don't want to fall into choreographing my solos, I want to be able to continue improv, but I need to find a better way to do it because I don't like the feeling of wasting 4 minutes of showtime flailing around. Ok, I don't mean that really, but I feel like I didn't make real USE of the time. So, when school gets out (a week from tomorrow!) I'm going to hop back into my practice habits and hope that gets me back on track.
Dance 4-22
Figure out rib cage alternating circles (stopping in the back) with CCW omis.CW omis - practiced with various layers. Oof.
Getting used to double tornado turn and faster with u-tornado turn. Worked on Zoe's triple side undulation lock thingy, cause it could be sharper (maya lock, maya roll up to rib cage, lock, maya roll up to head, lock).
Vibration with locks (any I can think of) feels good.
Practiced belly rolls for a while - been slacking on those for a while and I can tell! Also snake walk (down to up bellyroll walking back) and snake walk with 3/4 shimmy. I think I could do that all day.
I'm liking: wide stance, rib cage circles with pelvic TOTALLY still.
Working on fast vertical hip 8s with total rib cage isolation. It's so hard in the faster speeds not to wobble just a little.
Omis layered with vertical hip 8s down to up = love.
Dance 4/18
CCW omis with shoulders: RF LF LB RB I like this drill!!Tried for like an hour to do it with CW omis, though. Sad face! Can only do it veeeeeeeeeeeery slow. Drilled plain CW omis for a while, too.
Vibration with layers.
Big hip lift shimmy is - dare I say it - finally improving? It's been 5 years. Literally.
Mayas and vertical 8s with shoulder rolls - all feels challenging but good.
4/6 Dance
I've had several people asking for my dance journal, which is mostly in my head and partly on little notecards scattered throughout my purse. But I thought this might help me and hopefully will help those who've asked, too. If you're reading this, post back and share your daily/weekly project!Been working on:
Omis CLOCKWISE with alternating rib cage circles cw and ccw... I got this combo CCW but you know how my cw omis go...
Still working on center splits - small progress has been made in a year, I might have reached my limit.
Rib cage slide locks - getting sharper
Lifting some serious weights once a week - focus on back and arms
Each week do my glute squeezes, fast glute drills, rib cage lift/drop locks, pelvic drop/tuck locks, rib cage boxes, omi diamonds, then jam and have fun
Want to work more on:
Belly rolls - they always slip through the cracks of my practice time
