www.amiraworks.com now ON AIR
Sun, October 21, 2007 - 8:20 PMmy portfolio website is now publicly available for all to see. it's been a project i've hacked away at since april at least, and now it is there. everything i could manage to get into digital viewable format. now i can maybe finesse and tweak it a bit, deal with the final details, and get some video online somewhere. maybe utube. and pay for it.
it is a relief and i can't wait to find out how people react. i have a wide variety of content there.
concurrently:
i am doing a "trial" period working at holt renfrew in a tech support role in the visual department. we are about to install the great "holiday" decor, as well as continue to host events in the store (designer shows & launches, cosmetic events etc). i am doing things like moving stuff, unpacking stuff, steaming drapes, painting stuff (got to use an industrial sprayer with an air compressor last week), and setting up stuff. physical manipulation. i'm happy to be involved in such a large scale project rather than dealing with customers. i don't know if it will become a real fulltime job or i may just be moonlighting there for the next couple months? it's going to be busy, as i continue to do 2 days a week at toronto's first post office as well as try to work on commissioned costumes & paintings. i hear "the lion who roared meow" has gotten good feedback on the design.
the photo above is of me performing during Nuit Blanche, the "all night contemporary art thing" held a few weeks ago.
life continues to amaze me. i'm thinking about holding a slow parade in november, celebrating the end of cheap oil in grand funerary style. anyone want to join in?
"a myth serves as an orienting and mobilizing story for a people. the focus is not on the story's relation to reality, but on its function. a story cannot function unless its believed to be true in the community or nation. it is not a matter of debate. if some people have the bad taste to raise the question of the truth of the sacred story, the keepers of the faith do not enter into debate with them, they ignore them or denounce them as blasphemers."
