The Dog Room is Finished, So Now We Leave!

Haha. We got the new "doggy room" to completion. Just in time to leave for Boston. Now everybody goes to boarding....

It's hard on the family budget, true. But I learned a long time ago .... if you can't leave home with peace of mind, don't leave.

So... tomorrow morning I am taking five cats to the clinic, to receive vet care while they are boarded. And then tomorrow afternoon I am taking three dogs to the pet resort, where they will dine on "Frosty Paws" and take walks in the woods. There will be two dogs and one cat cared for here at home, by my house-sitter.

When I return in a week, I will most definitely have a full house... when everybody returns to me, AND I add two more to the mix.

Am I crazy or what?

Enough Hormones on the Bench, Already!

Personally, I have had it with all that testosterone. Haven't you? I mean... testosterone is the "anger hormone." And it is also associated with risk taking behaviors. That is why I am calling for equal representation from the other half of the population. You know, the one that has less testosterone. And a little bit more estrogen. Estrogen, being the hormone of love, can only bring balance to the important decisions made by our highest court.

Just about anything you want to know about Sonia Sotomayor can be found at: dissentingjustice.blogspot.com/20...tml . H/T to Prof. Darren Hutchinson at Dissenting Justice, for doing all the research. If it were not for him, I would know far littler about this Obama appointee.

IMO the MSM, even it's most liberal organs, are doing a terrible job of letting us know who our next SCOTUS appointee is. See: thenewagenda.net/2009/05/3...xist-bias/

Judge Sotomayor *will* be confirmed, despite their negligence and outright misogyny. She has to be! We just can't take anymore of those out of control hormones on the bench: thenewagenda.net/2009/05/2...sotomayor/

Returning to the Big Hounds!

I miss them, to be honest. And, while it has been easier to rescue and place the little fluffy ones, I don't believe that's my calling.

So... coming in June.... I have a few big hounds. Clayton here is one of them. He has been in the prison program in Lebanon, and received no adoption inquiries at all. He's fully obedience trained and purebred! What else could anyone want??

When he gets to me in mid-June, I'll evaluate him as a potential therapy dog. Or I'll place him in a family that deserves him.

I can't wait to meet him in person!

We Did It!

Tori and I are now officially registered with the Delta Society. We'll soon begin our visiting careers.

She was such an angel, that Tori. She purred and purred, no matter who held her. I bought her this little sling to ride in, and she thought she was queen of the world in there.

The evaluator told us that we were the best partner pair she had evaluated that day.

I am so proud of Tori!

Saying Goodbye to Leslie

I did not know that my friend, Leslie Poindexter, had crossed the threshold. Until I went poking around, looking for contact information, to invite her to my son's ordination. What I found was this: www.homeadowsongfarm.com/index...36.htm

Leslie was a remarkable woman. She taught me many things about nurturing children. She also showed me what graceful aging looks like. We were Shield Sisters together in the late 80s. At Leslie's second "Saturn Return" she held a croning ceremony for herself. I was delighted to attend. And not disappointed.

I know Leslie is happy where she is now... because Leslie was always happy! She was never without a song to sing and a story to tell. Her love of the Earth was what sustained her. She believed she could converse with the animals, flowers, and trees. Even the Earth itself. She was a lifelong student of Austrian philosopher, Rudolf Steiner. (See: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rudolf_Steiner )

Leslie had once visited, and shared much about, the teachings of The Findhorn Community:

This post is in remembrance of Leslie who has never been easily contained!

I only wish I could have been there.... to sing to her in her final hours....

Name Badge Photos

Briar Rose asked how I managed to get such a fabulous name badge photo for me and Tori. So I thought I'd leak the secret.

With The Delta Society, we provide our own photos. I had not had a professional photo done for quite a few years... so I opted to buy some. The one I chose (shown here) is my favorite. But "The Picture People" did a great job, and there are several others. The young man that did our shoot was a real cat lover, and he was very patient with Tori and Sissy. I'll post a few more pics in my photos section... so you can see for yourself. (Prices are reasonable too!)

Today Tori sees the groomer, to get ready for her big test on Sunday!

I'm Sorry, But This Doesn't Look Like Someone We Can Afford to Fire

Did you know that the military is still discharging soldiers for being openly gay?

One of these soldiers is California's own Lt. Dan Choi. In March he went on Rachel Maddow's show and spoke honestly about his sexual orientation. As a result in April the Army sent him a letter of discharge. Lt. Choi is fighting the discharge and fighting the discriminatory "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy.

I just signed a petition from the Courage Campaign to President Obama, urging him to do the right thing by stopping the discharge of Lt. Dan Choi and other LGBT soldiers, and asking President Obama to uphold his promise to repeal "Don't Ask, Don't Tell." They are going to deliver it to the president and it's important that as many people as possible speak out right now.

Will you join me in signing and urge your friends to do the same?:
