Garden Spirits Beckon: It must be Equinox!
The weather here in Cincinnati is fabulous this week! Sunny. Warm. Breezy. It's my first chance to get out in the gardens. My garden angels are calling, as they are prone to, at this time of year. Today will be my third day raking. Next comes the mulch and flower food.
I am sure you won't blame me at all for slacking on my bloggery. Next time it rains, I promise to catch up!

Cake Rituals of St. Pat's Day
I wish I was a cake maker! I'd so make this cake. Then I'd eat St. Patrick and liberate the gummy worms..... uh, er snakes.Wouldn't that be fun?
Maybe I had better take a cake decorating class before next year? Oh wait.... BAD for my diet.... I have now lost 11 # in the past 8 weeks, and I don't want to blow it for one measly cake ritual.
Guess I'll have to stick with my more "difficult" snake honoring ceremonies..... Haha.

Where Have We Gone Wrong? Half of Boston's Teens think Rihanna "Had it Coming."
TGW covers the story here:guerillawomentn.blogspot.com/200...html
Of note:
• 46% said Rihanna was responsible for the incident
• 51% said Chris Brown was responsible for the incident
• 52% said both individuals were to blame for the incident, despite knowing at the time that Rihanna had been beaten badly enough to require hospital treatment
• 35% said the media were treating Rihanna unfairly
• 52% said the media were treating Chris Brown unfairly
WTF? I thought Bostonians were "progressive."
Meanwhile....
Muslims Against Shari'a would like you to know that they are standing with Marcia Pappas against Muzzamil Hassan and the brutal honorcide of his wife, Aasiya : muslimsagainstsharia.blogspot.com/2...ml
Good for them!
Now... how do we get them teaching in Boston's schools?

The Kitties Have Arrived!
Boy do we have a full house now! This is Clarice, who is winkin atcha! She is the daughter of Cleo.... the absolutely GORGEOUS Brit! She has two brothers, Carl and Curt. What a unique group they are! All four of them have taken over the upstairs office.
In the den I have Pixie and Betsy.... the younger calico dyad.
Besides that, Beanie the Chi-Jack has joined me in the kitchen today.
And the four pups are still hogging the back room.
Lots of four-legged love all around.

Back on Track with Rescue (Still a little slow on the blogging.)
Today was the day for puppy intake. Tomorrow it will be kitties. This is Wilma. She is a little Shar Pei mix, which I do not often get in my rescue. Her wrinkled brow is soooo cute!

Return From Spring Break
This is my Jack Russell Terrier mix, Jackie, enjoying her big Spring Break outing to CT. We had a wonderful four days in Meriden, Mystic, and Cheshire.Laura Van Wormer, who is a CT author and also a reader of my political bloggery, showed us around a bit. She introduced us to some FABULOUS eateries. You know, the kind that an outsider would never find.... without a little bit of insider nudging. If you have never been to The "Bookmark Cafe," or "Sam the Clam" I feel very sorry for you! Haha!!
Sam's totally calls to mind a Spongebobian diner. It even has the water and the little submarine windows! The crabcakes are exquisite. The lobster stuffed shrooms are to die for. And.... the margarita's are A-OK!
Anyways... we are back in Ohio now. And I should be back on track with rescue and bloggery. Soon!
I hope.
TTFN,
Amma
Wishing You All a Happy 100th International Women's Day!
I hope all of my Tribe Lady friends received some flowers....Amma
Women's History Month II: Sarah Palin, Morgan Christan (and it doesn't get any better than this.)
The Liberal Blogosphere is afire with the news that Sarah Palin has appointed a woman judge to the high court of Alaska. Not just any woman judge, either. Morgan Christen is what "Conservatives" like to call an "activist" judge. Here's how TGW covers the story:
guerillawomentn.blogspot.com/200...html
And here is Heidi Li Feldman's take:

Best of all though, here is what my friends at The New Agenda have to say:
thenewagenda.net/2009/03/0...n-apology/
And, yes, I agree.... there are some "Feminist" idealogues out there that own Gov. Palin an apology. Big time!
Congratulations to Morgan Kristen!

Women's History Month: Heidi Li Feldman, Emily Warren Roebling (and My Daughter, Marita)
My blogger friend, the professor from Georgetown University Law School, came up with this little gem:tdg.typepad.com/heidi_lis_...-built.html
On the day after my daughter, Marita, announced .. she is thinking she will transfer into Engineering next year!
Not believing in coink-i-dinks.... I can't help but feel the article, and the fact that we have a Roebling bridge here in Cincy, are good omens.
What do you think?
Amma
PS. Yes, I am truly pissed off about the fact that women engineers make less than men, and that Emily Warren Roebling's name is on the Brooklyn bridge and not in the history books. But I will not go there today.... I'll be a good little mommy, and keep my mouth shut about obvious acts of discrimination and omission.
