Self Help

I got about 45 of these. 20 of which are showable. I Never, personally, get tired of these and see something always new when i look at them. Depending on where i am in my life, they take on another shape. I decided to post this one because of a moment a had a few nights ago. While hunting for other pictures I stumbled on this out take. On my television screen while in front of the computer was a Tony Robinson infomercial. I laughed to myself and looked at this picture and saw the television in the background imagining this character snorting coke furiously while watching Tony tell him how to change his life. This is how sometimes we help ourselves. The pictures become less about drugs and more about misguided attempts to achieve change and esctasy in world seeming built on pleasure. If you notice we chose the props carefully thinking about what each object meant.

Oh and I might want to comment on the absurdity of just how freakishly HUGE the bag of coke is....and the thickness of the rails. I kept telling my partner in this crime it had to be over the top....So i added more baking soda...and more...Thicker rails...thicker....more blood..more... It had to be about the absurd distances we'll travel to fuck ourselves up.

Great pic and interesting concept - I dig stuff like that. I went to a after hours party once and found a rolled up ONE DOLLAR FOODSTAMP rolled up in the kitchen next to a mirror - Life is truely a theater of the Absurd.
