Black Aria Cover Art

I always found the story of the fall of the Rebel Angels strangely romantic, even as a child. To this day I ADORE this painting depicting the fall.

This is Beautiful. For years, I've entertained the idea of a painting named "Misunderstood Angel" or something similar, because of my fascination with this idea and with "shadow self". Is this art by the musician or does he simply own the copyright from the album cover? I had to Google the name, which I hadn't heard of, and was surprised. The soft sweetness of this compared to the image of the musician.

The problem I have with "romanticizing" the Dark is that it's far too easy to go overboard, turn your back on the Light; to move into nihilism and selfishness and the like. I know of quite a few places, for example, where otherwise-sensible women who have romanticized the Dark fall prey to men to embody the shadow archetypes. Remember that the essential element of the Fall, for example, involves just that rejection of the Light, and the desire to trick others into also abandoning it.

I've no problem delving into the "shadow self". All truly great spiritual figures, IMHO, have faced and embraced their own darkness; without doing so, one risks the unrecognized Shadow ruling you, instead of being a whole being acting from self-awareness.

All of which, of course, takes nothing away from the beautiful painting!
